Here's a few reasons:
1. It destroys the individual and promotes the collective
2. Government and the state become more important than the individual
3. I don't believe in stealing one man's hard earned money and giving it to some one else.
4. I believe that the least amount of government is the best form of government
5. It goes against everything written in the Constitution, this country was founded so that people could take risks on their own, without government intrusion, keep their wealth and do with it as they see fit. Not have a gov't agent decide what to do with it.
6. Socialism creates an unhealthy dependence on government. People become lazy and apathetic, knowing that the gov't will always bail them out with some one else's money.
7. Socialism is not sustainable, just look at the countries is Europe who can't pay their entitlements, it is simple math.
Basically, the by-product of Socialism is an ever-increasing and intrusive government which is something I do not believe in. People need to be left alone, let them make their own mistakes, let people live their lives how they choose. I don't need Michelle Obama telling me what to eat, or the EPA telling me what kind of light bulb to use, etc. These are all a result of socialist/collective policies that all sound good, but in the end do more damage the good.

The problem is that it encourages the most productive to be less productive, and least productive to be even less productive. Over time, it creates an unsustainable situation where no one is producing and everyone is consuming and nothing is left but debt, poverty, and lazy people.

Great post. 100% agreed.
However one thing that is missing is that the big corp is like a government now.
Just like a government should not be to big neither should a coorporation.
If FOX had'nt brainwashed the conservatives in here im sure ideologically they would agree

Ah, Lawrence O'Donnell....another MSNBC piece of throwaway partisan hackery. Soon to be cancelled just like his fat buddy Cenk.
Why is it that all "news" stations are pretty much filled with "gotcha" opinion/editorial shows? or shows like Cenk where he lies and takes things out of context to attack the right?
Not good. Also not good that Lawrence will soon be on the street begging for change.

I can't believe they have him on prime time against O'Reilly (not that I like O'Reilly). He won't last long.
Freedom Watch with Judge Napalitano on Fox Business is where its at. He destroys O'Donnell in ratings.

Being attacked by Lawrence O'Donnell is usually a sign you are on the right track

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." - Winston Churchill
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money [to spend]." - Margaret Thatcher
