If you're still in high school, these guys are teaming up for a concert series.

Gotta agree here. There's something a little "Off" about a 40 year old man sporting a Metallica T shirt.
-
Slayer - kicking satan's butt since 1982.

I have a Rolling Stones 1978 tour t-shirt.

Yeah, because enjoying something has a best-before date, right? ::)
Heavy metal is a type of music. No more and no less than any other genre.
And re: the whole "evolve" thing, evolve towards what?
Total idiocy.
-
Oh, and it's spelled Megadeth, not Megadeath.

Pre-Black Album Metallica still rips. Master of Puppets is one of the best albums ever.

Ill listen if MoP comes on... but the radio ONLY plays 3 songs off the black album. The only time old Metallica plays is if some old school metalhead calls in when he's baked and requests it.
I get so sick of hearing the black album... it has seriously made me hate that band.

I was extra fortunate to see: : Metallica ;D, "Alcohollica" ;D & Metallica :D

Saw Metallica a few weeks after Newstead joined, in a small venue with Metal Church opening. One of the best metal shows I've seen. Saw Metallica on the last tour and wasn't overly impressed. James is too annoying now.

Black Album was beginning of the end of them for me too. It was the first album they had that I had songs that I genuinely disliked, - Unforgiven, etc...
I think Of Wolf and Man is the only song I really like, but Enter Sandman will always have a place because of Mariano Rivera.

I think a lot of fans feel the same including me.

When you really think of it Metallica has not produced a really memorable song in decades! Maybe "Fuel" - but nothing from St. anger, nothing else from load or reload, nothing from Death Magnetic.
People always go back to the first 4

Yup, only song I think may be a bit of a throw back was All Nightmare Long or something like that. Actually, now that I think about it Hero of the Day was what made me stop listening - song sucked, and I caught a bit of the video which was corny as anything.....

I agree with this and everything else. Black was a great fucking album.....for another band other than Metallica. I kinda blame it on their working with Bob Rock who led them down the path to "nicer" metal. It was polished, had great hooks, was paced well and produced clean....again, great album for any other band.
And I'll actually give a pass to 'Load.' It has a special place in my black, metal heart. Everything after it was garbage. St. Anger tried WAY to hard to be "metal" to the point that it was obvious that Metallica was now a band that forgot how to reach into your chest and tear your still beating heart out. Death Magnetic was solid but it just wasn't enough to bring back the old ways and the old metal, too slick and to overly polished.
Hero of the Day made me want throw up, same thing with I Disappear, House that Jack Built etc. Just bad. But, they are still one of the greatest metal acts of all time. Kill 'em All through '...And Justice for All' prove that.
They just remind me of The Rolling Stones now, living on past accomplishments with current material that sounds like a really good cover band playing/copying The Rolling Stones.

Great post - and totally agree about Rock. Took away the signature crunch, and just refined everything (wanted Hammett to play "bluesy")....not bad, but not Metallica ( Black Album - post stuff was just not there/good).

Def Leppard pwns them all. Everyone knows that their songs are more varied and they're better musicians. Also, they can rock harder than those bands when they want to.
Def Leppard Undefeated (Live, Cleveland Ohio 2012):
Coming to movie theatres worldwide in September.
DEF LEPPARD -- VIVA! Hysteria (Movie Trailer):

Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeath are for spotty, greasy haired anoraks, while Def Leppard appeal to all kinds of people including movie legends like Nicholas Cage and Tom Cruise. They also get sexy looking ladies in their audiences.
