How does GETBIG feel about this automobile?
I rented one this past week while visiting San Diego (Actually, specifically requested it), and I absolutely loved it! True American Muscle right there! It was really a joy to drive. Even though it was a big car, I freaking floored it on the highway and that beast took off!
I've always had a soft spot for American cars - drove a Jeep and a Navigator for the longest time!
I'm travelling again next weekend and this time thinking about renting a Challenger (I've already rented both the new Camaro and Mustang during previous trips, so its time for a change) AVIS must love me now cause I'm always upgrading!

American = best performance for the money excluding Japanese GTR.
But overall stick with euros for everything else. Germans do it the best IMO

I have a German car right now, and they are very smooth on the road! Incredible handling.
But I dunno, I always feel like total bad ass driving American!
lol

What??? I thought visibility was AMAAAAAZING!!!! Huge Windows, Huge everything!
Have you driven the new Camaro? Talk about bad visibility!
-
The Camero is worse yes, but that doesn't make the Charger's visibility "good".
-
next time try to ask for the new Charger SRT8 !
i personally love it and heard the new ones rocks !

American cars dont handle well in general. Good in straights but forget the bends.

Dodge Charger!? Not a surprising choice after your meal with Alice and Nasser. Maybe it should be the Charge Dodger.

This isn't actually True American muscle technically , that was a huge engine stuffed into a little car and it was affordable , this is a 4 door :-X and not very affordable ( over 40K loaded ) great sounds though
I wouldn't buy a Dodge/Chrsyler product again ( I owned a Jeep :-X ) I would take a new Mustang ( which is more in the muscle car spirit , well the V6's anyway and they have over 300HP and still relatively cheap ) the problem with Dodge/Chrysler products is the quality control issues , I've known to many people with problems with their Dodge/Chrysler cars , from the Pacifica to the Ram trucks
-
i had a 2005 (or '06 don't remember) RT that i just traded in for a cherokee. Unless you rented a v8, i wouldn't say you got the true experience of that car. i loved it, as it was a fast as shit car that didn't look like it.
the new one looks completely like a sedan, a lot of the sportiness of it was removed, so i'm not a fan.
yeah it was a 4 door, but it didn't hurt its sales or looks at all.
-
Mopar always makes big heavy boats with lots of power, you know what your getting when you buy a dodge. However, I dont consider the charger a muscle car.

This is a 20010, the 2011 is completely re-done- much better car... if someone has a 2011 photo please post it. Rental companies have SXT's here...
-
Sadly, it was a v6 that I rented. They only had two at Avis that day and one was having engine problems. I could only imagine what the v8 was like.
I too would take a mustang gt any day over the charger though!
BUT when I finally have 100,000 to blow, this 600hp beast will be in my Garage!

This is the TERMINATOR!
I've driven a black one as depicted in the video below. It had 650 hp and was absolutely insane on the freeway. People were staring in awe. Bodybuilders love people staring at them, so get a black terminator and cruise down the freeway. You'll like it!

The only american car i would drive is the corvette.
Why don't you buy a normal corvette?

American cars suck. End of story. Always go foreign.

The Cadillac CTS and the Corvette Z06 and ZR1 are exceptions to that rule.

Here's mine, 700 hp of American Muscle.

Ok, granted, there are exceptions to almost every rule. However, overall, I think American cars are very poorly made.

I agree... I typically buy foreign myself.
However, if I do get myself in a position for a 100,000 dollar car, I will most likely buy a ZR1.

:D ... THERE YOU ARE !!!!!!!!!!! ... Glad you're back :-*
-
I drive a 2009 Charger, really like it but thinking about trading it for a new Challenger.
-
Foreign cars are just stupidly expensive, especially the German breeds. If I had the 90 grand just laying around, I'd pick one up. Otherwise, no thanks.
BTW, the Challenger is built on the exact same frame as the Charger, albeit 4 inches shorter. It drives exactly like a Charger as well, there is very, very little difference(I've driven both SRT versions, non-modded). They are also pig-heavy, being well over 4k pounds :-X
The only good thing going for them, imho, is the look...I'm not a big fan of their Hemi-derived engines and they are much more expensive to modify compared to their Camaro/Corvette/LSX and Mustang/4.6/5.4/5.0 brethren.
In terms of engine peformance and ease of ability to modify, the Camaro is king. Its engine was able to put up over 800 crank horsepower through a supercharger with stock engine components...reliably. I'd get the tranny beefed up though.
-
Ok, here is a question for you, if its strictly between these two cars which would you buy:
Ford Mustang GT or Chevrolet Camaro SS
?
I choose the Mustang, just enjoyed driving it more.

Mustang Boss 302 is where it's at!

I agree!! But I was strictly asking about the GT or the SS!

And so do old men and women. You won't find an older lady driving a Terminator - the clutch is too stiff.
I like the Corvette but there are so many on the road it loses it's exclusiveness. Unless it's a Z06 or ZR1. There are too many base Corvettes though. You won't find many Terminators on the road. Only 20,000 or so were built (Convertibles and Coupes).
-

The GT as you touched on the visibility on the Camaro sucks
the V6 Mustang has 305HP same as the 1996 Mustang Cobra !
-

I'd still go with the Ford. However, I might take the Challenger SRT8 over both of them. The handling isn't nearly as good but it just looks bad ass and is one of those cars that is just awesome to drive...makes you feel like you're on Dukes of Hazzard!

thats the one thing that bugs me about the corvette, even the higher end models, so freaking many of them on the road!
-
The Terminator must be the best bang for the buck right now. Some are selling for under 20k and you can find Whipple and KB charged ones for under 30k. And the KB and Whipple ones are all pushing 600 hp plus. Heck you may be able to find a 800+ HP twin turbo with a roll cage for under 40k!

I took a ride in a Diablo VT Twin Turbo last fall and it was insanely fast especially on the highway, would do 60- 130mph faster than I could blink. AWD so it was real quick off the dig too, but once we hit 3rd gear it got pretty scary. My dream car, If I had an extra 300k lying around let me tell you..
-

For looks I'd go with the Camaro SS, for handling I'd go with the Mustang GT. Though I favor handling usually, I'd probably end up with the Camaro due to its looks since neither of these are for trackdays. (Not talking about special editions like Boss 302, GT500, ZL1 etc). Plus you see a lot more Mustangs today than Camaros.

The problem is, that car ain't worth 300k...the fact that it's a aftermarket TT kills any value that it has as a Diablo---and the fact that Diablos are not going for 300k, even the SVs, and the GT. You are talking about a V12 Lambo that is 2 generations behind, and was designed under Chrysler's watch (coincidently Chrysler had a design study that looked similar to the Diablo). For looks I'd go with the Camaro SS, for handling I'd go with the Mustang GT. I believe the stats are that for the first time, the Camaro has outsold the Mustang...
-
You have all the 2005-2009 Mustangs that are almost the same as the 2011 ones so it's a lot more common sight on the streets, whereas the new Camaro has only been around for 2 years. Don't know about other states but over here on an average day I see at least 20 Mustangs (2005-2011) and less than 6 Camaros (2009-2011).

True, in part of the county where I live, it's very working class, and on weekends, you'll see tons of primer or effed up paint Fox body Mustangs on the road, trying to race everybody...
There is a guy in my apt complex with a 2010 Mustang, I do see more new Camaros vs 2011 Mustangs...I've really been eyeing the 5.0...
-
I'm actually surrounded by Mustangs, 2 doors down from me there's a neat 2008 GT500, I love to hear it idle every morning. Then a couple of streets down there's an older retired guy that has a garage full of old muscle cars, among them a fully restored 1967 Mustang and a 2006 Mustang GT. There's also the odd Challenger here and there, few Camaros though.
Concerning the Charger, I'd love to see the new SRT8 on the road, I liked the previous one and the 2012 looks better in every aspect. And though $46k is decent price for the SRT I can't keep thinking a base Audi S4 for example is about the same price, even though it has 130 less hp. (I know, those who buy the SRT won't consider the Audi).
-

The turbos on that car are not typical aftermarket add ons. They were installed by Platinum Motors in Cali under the watch of Lamborghini, so the engine in the VTTT was also heavily modified to accommodate the extra power. And the car was 500k new and capable of 225mph+ depending on boost, again its not just a Diablo with turbos slapped on. I said 300k as an estimated current value if you can find one. Its a very unreliable but really fast car and the price was merely gauged by availability, mystique, rarity and speed.
Despite all its problems its gotta be one of the coolest cars ever and a car I only dream of owning.

Forget the VTTT this is the epitome of a turbo-charged Lambo 1500WHP in a race tune 1000WHP on pump gas , 250MPH in just 1 mile , they make twin-turbo Ferrari f430/f458
