Oh, the good ol' days...
We used to play outside that yankees are attacking and birds were fighter jets and we tried to shoot them down
Of course toy cars were also favorites.
I think I've been alpha from the beginning :D (yea, i know every non-homo kid plays these same games)

I loved dolls, especially barbie. I would also sit all my toys up and have tea parties. :-\ The worst part is I loved doing the laundry etc. I had my own doll clothesline and would wash their clothes and then hang them on the clothesline to dry. I had an ironing board too. Wtf...I was doing housework and didn't even need to.
-
your mom ? :-X
-
Transformers, GI Joe, He-man, and remote control cars from Tyco.
-
I also loved fishing and catching tadpoles.

???
Nothing weird in it IMO. Almost all young boys play 'war games', at least back when I was kid.
And kids have one heck of imagination - it's not like we saw birds as real fighters but just imagined them as ones.

No, I don't mean it like that, or in a bad way at all.
It's just that sometimes it seems you go out of your way to force in a dig at the US, and I know see that it's something you've been exposed to since childhood.
Or, it could be I'm full of shit and completely misreading you.

Oh, I see... But I think it had more to do just with that America's wars around the world were on news even back then and it's easy for children to get inspired from what they see and hear from TV...
Traditionally here Americans are not hated and it's not like somebody daily told me "Americans are bad" when I was a kid ;D

We used to play a game called "Bruce Lee" where the only rule was no kicking in the nuts. One Person is Bruce Lee and the rest are Ninjas and Bruce Lee has to fight off all of the Ninjas. As Bruce Lee, if you knock someone to the ground, that person then becomes Bruce Lee and the rest are Ninjas.
But my favorite game was playing War outside in the entire neighborhood. That or climbing trees.

stuff like capture the flag and ring a levio were awesome.
-
all you rich bastards with your toys ::)
we were dirt poor. played cowboys and indians with homemade bows and arrows. guns were a suitably shaped twig :-[
same with army games.. machine guns were branches we pulled from trees :-\
cricket bats were usually made from a stolen piece of somebody's fence. the wicket, a couple of milk crates.
most games were outdoor street games with little or no equipment.
the kids with the good stuff were usually chubby no mates ;D

Still one of the best Christmas gift I ever received.
Awesome. Ever have any Micronauts? I loved those things.... The set below was incredibe - really strong magnets / metal pieces and they actually shot missiles in the beginning until they stopped letting them do that. Horse and commander were interchangeable, could switch out legs for wheels, fists shot out of arms etc...

Some were battery powered. And, after looking up this pic, I just realized as a kid I never questioned the placement of Microtron's spinning drill:

When I was like 2 or 3 I had this purple VW beetle made out of aluminum with a plastic chassis and a tow hitch, that I had attached some kind of morter cannon on wheels to.
I played with that thing until the VW tow hitch broke off... Mom says I cried and cried. (I do not remember this)
As a pre-teen I had tons of transformers and GI Joes... Even had the big Voltron Toys like both of these.

generally they would all be one game though - the army men would fight my robot and dinosaur toys toys, etc.
but as far as time spent, i have to say it was a ten pound block of artists clay my older sister gave me. i wasted days upon days making monsters, robots, stonehenge, spaceships, my own little universe.
