Clinton talked a big game on healthcare reform too, but when he got the reality of it in the beginning of his first term, he backed off of it completely. I prefer a more pragmatic approach than both of our last two presidents, who had an agenda and wouldn't bend it for anything...

I think he tried for too much. He was looking for two big domestic (economy and health) changes and two big foreign ones (Middle East, and continuing Afgh. and Iraq). He should have focused on one of each, with an obvious domestic priority. And his ability to marshal 'leadership' has been a problem from the start.
