Title: Looking for a new pair of gym shoes
Post by: Cerberus2k7 on December 27, 2011, 03:50:47 PM
Mainly used shoes that ranged from Etnies, New Balance, Chucks, and Vibrams.  But I'm looking for something that'll fit the bill with weight training and cardio/plyo during the same visit.  Right now I'm between these two:

UA Micro G Split
http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Running-Non-Cleated-Under-Armour/dp/B005UQ7624/ref=sr_1_6?m=A1P1P695RNGOCS&s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1324746047&sr=1-6 (http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Running-Non-Cleated-Under-Armour/dp/B005UQ7624/ref=sr_1_6?m=A1P1P695RNGOCS&s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1324746047&sr=1-6)

Nike Free 3.0
http://www.amazon.com/Nike-Free-3-0-V3-Platinum/dp/B0058EC5ZG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1325029636&sr=8-3 (http://www.amazon.com/Nike-Free-3-0-V3-Platinum/dp/B0058EC5ZG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1325029636&sr=8-3)

I'm normally not a huge fan of Nike(Had shox that blew out after the first leg day) but heard pretty good things about the free.  Mainly want something light weight but has a bit more support than vibrams.  Any of you used either of these(or both)?

Seriously, I like Asics Tigers for all around gym shoes. If you're willing to have 2 pairs for the gym, Adidas Sambas(or real OL Shoes) for lifting and a good pair of runners is the ticket :).

LOL what are you fucking retarded?

yeah, your choice in gym shoe is of the utmost importance for doing all those wonderfully difficult exercises like the bench press that requires the latest in shoe technology.

if you havent already, kill yourself.

Yeah because I totally divorced mentioning anything about cardio/plyo.  And as for killing myself, I have no need.  Because my life is grand, unlike your pitiful attempt of becoming something more than a prom night dumpster baby.

no, seriously. you should.

if your biggest worry is about what kind of running shoe to wear on the elliptical after your pilates class you probably have bigger, much more stressful concerns you'd rather focus on in your 'grand' life, like colour coordinating your extra small under armour/ tap out 'gear'.

fucking pansy.

I love my Vibram 5-Fingers.....super lightweight, no need to wear socks, closest thing to the barefoot feeling in the gym.....and even if the gym did allow you to go barefoot, its nasty to think what you might be walking on and could pick up some fungal disease, lol.

I get a couple of funny looks whenever I wear these, though.

Onitsuka tiger, not asics. This is the original tiger athletic shoe,  Thye adidas samba millineum is a great, very comfortable shoe for the gym or causual wear, actually both make good casual wear shoes. Very comfortable.

I personally find the best footwear for the gym are combat boots or timberlands fully laced up.

Always feel more secure around the ankles for lifts vs wearing nothing.

New Balance do the job for me. Got a pair of Asics too that are okay, but aren't as good a fit for me as new balance.

I used to prefer an mid or boot trainer/sneaker, especially squatting, but i can't find a decent pair since the Puma ones i loved died about 4 years ago.

Any one wearing vibram five fingers anywhere, let alone the gym needs to be fed a 45lb plate.
