All this hype for 2 minutes of light sparring that left 1 guy crumpled on the mat.

There are no good heavyweight boxers at the moment (tyson, holyfield, lewis...) that's why nobody watches it.

boxing at it's best is better than MMA at it's best.

I can't think of one MMA fight worth remembering, where there are classic boxing matches that we can still watch with awe, like the Ali-Frazier I & III fights.

Bull - boxing is so messed up in the last 10 years, no one cares about it.

Great MMA fights all the time, but then here comes Lesnar vs. Overeem, which truly was pathetic.  Terrible fight.  But I can think of a few boxing fights that were even worse.

If no one cares about it ,where the money come from to pay  FMW ,Pac ,Klitchskos bros ... $ 20- 30  mill a fight  ???

UFC 137 draws 280,000 pay-per-view
UFC 136  225,000

FMW vs Ortiz , 1.3  million buys.

Those are USA PPV buyrates.  Not including world wide viewership.

Before PPV and Close Circuit TV boxing matches were televised on free TV and radio. Big difference between free and PPV.

I'm one of the biggest boxing fans on this forum, but I don't hate on MMA because it's not boxing.  UFC events are better than boxing events IMO because UFC events have good undercards.

Stop being an ignorant tool.

I could say boxing is garbage compared to MAX, but I know they're different sports and respect the skill involved.

Pacquiao vs. Mosley only had 300 000 more buys than St. Pierre vs. Shields and UFCs only been popular for the last 6 years, boxings been around forever. UFC is growing and its only a matter of time before it eclipses boxing, just give it more time.

The original reason everyone (lower and upper classes) were drawn to boxing, is because it appeals to our natural desire to see who the toughest fighting man in the world is! Since this isn't the brutal days of the Roman colosseum, they had to create rules to protect the fighters to some degree, yet find the proper balance that still gives us an idea who would win in a free-for-all. For this reason, early modern boxing had no round limits, and judges were very lenient--often allowing rabbit punches and the like. But now that we have MMA, we have a better method of determining who the best is, since MMA is a closer approximation to what a free-for-all is. And no, it's not third rate. It includes Judo gold medalist, wrestling gold medalist, sambo champs... etc.
