Title: Just How fast is your internet connection? Cost? country?
Post by: 225for70 on January 24, 2012, 07:08:21 PM
I just switched Internet Service Providers and i'm getting extremely fast speeds to download big muscle men..  Watching Youtube vids of Liar Priest and other bodybuilders is now seamless and smooth..No lagging at all.

I'm in USA-NY, and cost is 60 dollars per month with Cablevision

I'm curious how other getbiggers internet connections compare to mine..

I know Swede has a very fast internet connection in Sweden,..

im in saudi arabia... $60 for 4 mbps... but the connection sucks (monopolized in all of saudi by one company, and they sometimes offer 10 mbps for $100 to suckers who think it's different... but it's the same speed as 4 mbps)

The highest speed for AT&T Uverse UVERSE service depends on how long the line is that serves your residence...1500 feet and you can get 24mps...3000 feet and you can get 3mps...unless they suggest bonded pairs...where they split the data over two pair of wire.

Ironically at my house I can only get .7mps dsl because of line length.

My new optimum speedboast was supposed to be capped at 50MB....I just went over that 8)  I hit that speed with my desktop that is wired..

However, my laptop is only hitting about 22MB per second...I think i need to get a new Router, as mine only Supports the "G" standard. I need a router that supports the newer "N" standard to take full advantage of the higher speeds available..I think that will solve this issue

Fios is structured differently than Uverse which is based on the television channels you want to watch being channeled from the VRAD (Uverse signal generator) at the crossbox to your house...with Fios the "entire river" of channels go to your house.

Because Verizon from the beginning decided not to use the copper telephone line...they were not hampered by the limited bandwith and bit errors that using the original copper would impose...but had to pay the costs of installing the fiber in existing neighborhoods.

Yes they do...
I live in Houston though...but even in AT&T cities the new neighborhoods have fiber based Uverse...It's the older established developments that have copper phone lines that have been there since the Korean war that cause problems with Uverse...In Houston the Heights, Oak Forest, and Memorial are the worst telecom infrastructure in the state for the digital signals of modern telecom...Ironically, Memorial an area of high end mansions, is the worst of all...Old F2 lines on poles...home owners who took over the utility easements with trees, bamboo groves, and all sort of outbuildings constructed  so that it is very difficult to get up the poles to do installs or troubleshoot excessive bit errors...
I was given an install to do at a house that had a palm tree planted such at it was impossible to gain access to the terminals on a pole...They yelled at me when I told them that the palm tree would have to be cut down.

And the houses themselves are a problem with multiple attics and lines that branch every whichway that are severely inadequate for digital signals...We call Memorial a "Telecom ghetto"

Well - I reckon I'll have the worst cost/bandwidth ratio...

Bangkok...

Local connection - 6Mb
International connection 1Mb (unshared)

Cost 4,200 Baht/month or $134/month

I should elaborate...if the wireline phone company in an area is Verizon, they will Have Fios...if the wireline company in an area is AT&T, they will have Uverse.
