Obama gave away a shitload of taxpayer dollars on companies he deemed 'worthy'.
Essentially he took sides in a risky field - is this an ethics fail, or just a legal part of how government works?

He did not deem anything worthy. He returned favors for corrupt donors while killing off reliable energy and jacking our costs.

Corruption, as with Solyndra/Banks/Automakers, mixed in with central planning.
Govt. shouldn't be in the business of picking winners and losers and unbalancing the playing field...that's who capital is miss-allocated among other things.

so youre okay with the government handing out what it essentially free money - so that companies can try new things - just as long as there aren't any donors involved?
See, IMO, the strict conservative would say "to hell with that, you let the market decide - you let private investors spend their money. The taxpayer doesn't get a say here?"
So you're okay with subsidies for energy companies, 33?

i'm asking you to clarify. what is your position? i asked and you only condemned the corrupt donor angle. But you didn't say "All energy subsidies are constitutionally fuct and should be ended and whoever uses them is a dirtbag".

No subsidies to anyone. Open land for exploration, no more ethanol, no more EPA blends and mandates, more fracking, more drilling, more refineries, more pipelines, get rid of the EPA, get rid of the BLM, etc.

I think I agree with almost all of that. I think we need SOME form of EPA so people aren't pumping toxic sludge into public drinking supplies... but yeah, the current version is corrupt as the day is long.

Obama wanted to end 2 bil of the annual 5 blllion in subsidies to oil companies, and repubs attacking him endlessly for it.
Also, to add to your list of "FUMR", turns out Romney was in office 3 weeks and handed out a nice chunk of the state's budget to "startup energy companies"

so it's hard to define this issue politically.

I don't give a shit - I call it like I see it. and the so called "energy subsidies" are not payments from the govt to energy companies, they are tax exemptions for drilling and other types of machine purchases that most go to small companies.
