Is it ok to do 20 mins of fatburning cardio after legs? Will this also help with recovery?

Nothing wrong with a bit of cardio after legs, if anything it should help some with the next day soreness as it should help get rid of some of the lactic acid you put so much effort into building up  ;D

Ditto - I have nothing left after leg training. I saved cardio for *off days*.

Honestly, I think it may prove more degenerative or possibly catabolic.
Save that (added) stress, the energy for recovery the next day(s),
even with advanced supplementation - AAS in my case.

25 years of bicycling taught me (about my body at least) that I can do
1:15 - 1:30 leg (cycling) routines. But, doing 45 to 50min weight training
time length is ideal, to (add or) aid the stress/recovery process.
For me post weight training cardio (added stresses)
which may tap this critical recovery resource.

Each of our goals ARE different, for me (now) strength, size and shape.
Not primarily, endurance at this point in life (at 45).
Was endurance trained most of my life.

I think your just forcing more blood to go into your legs. I think it would give you better results or it could just be over training.

Nothing wrong with it except that if you're really training legs hard you shouldn't have much left for cardio, as someone mentioned! But if you can, it doesn't hurt the system. Of course, too much cardio done too frequently will impede size gains.

Better IMO is to do cardio first-it's a great warmup for the knees at the same time..

I think you should avoid any cardio work when lifting weights.

The weightlifting will create a metabolic burst, add cardio sessions on off days and in the mornings and evenings, depending on when you're lifting.

Have to agree with Hedgehog. If you intend to work for extreme muscle mass than train that way, no usless cardio needed in this regard. If your more of a endurance athlete than include cardio along with a lifting workout. Cardio, after a serious BB'ing leg workout, could cause delays in achieving the most in muscle mass and strength gain. Because of the negative influence it could produce on the CNS and recovery abilities. If concerned about fat loss, than pay attention to the diet and eating habits. Generally speaking ,that 20 minutes is way to long anyway after a leg or any other muscle group program. Might try interval train, with short burst of effort, during the week. But not on the same day as a leg workout for max muscle growth. Good Luck.

I dont have a prob. w/cardio after legs. But then I'll use the elliptical.Or briskly walk on the tread mill. Now in the case of a stairmaster.Or a bike.I could see where it could work against muscle gains. So on leg day thy're out.IMO there's no reason not to do cardio on leg day.Just excuses. If I'm wrong,My mind & ears are open.

I've been doing cardio after work outs for a while now (shredding) and it helps with my soreness a great deal. I don't go fast but stay within my fat burning heart rate which is 120-140 (I'm an old lady!)

I keep such a pace...and work so hard that I do my cardio DURING my leg routine-- :)

But really, I usually run to warm up --max 10 minutes, then do legs--. If I go heavy and do many sets and a good job--then I don't see the need to stress my legs any further even if they do feel okay after I finish lifting.

There's always tomorrow...
