Title: How "special" are each one of us when ...
Post by: Fortress on February 20, 2012, 10:34:37 AM
... there are seven billion of us?  ???

Lately I have been thinking a lot about this. Can we really in all honesty consider each living human "valuable" when our numbers have ballooned to such an outrageous figure?! We're literally killing our chances to survive as a species because we cannot get control of our ever-growing population.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. This is all we do.

I don't wish ill on anyone, but seriously, can we still determine that a human life is really all that important in the big picture?

And, yes, I count myself as someone who doesn't matter much (none of us truly matter). If I croak, who really gives a shit? Several people will cry and be sad for a bit, and then I am forgotten. Doesn't bug me one bit.

i've always considered mankind a total hype. The question is why it took you so long to get to this conclusion.

Nothing matters in the big scheme of things, but try to be and do your best in your own little corner of the world......it still won`t matter, but you could always do worse.

It is absolutely fascinating how special we are, if you study and understand principles like evolution and astronomy... the billion adaptations that occurred so the species could survive... the right distance for a planet to be from the sun so that temperature would be neither freezing nor scorching...

Humans are so improbable in the universe they're like a miracle.

i think you missed the mark.  the whole thing is so improbable, not just humans.  Humans are simply cursed to understand it.

We are all basically one. None of us is the Center of the Universe. We are all of us, regardless of age, race, nationality, social standing.. just merely tiny pieces in a vast cosmic puzzle. It doesnt matter how famous you are or how poor you are... if you are derelict from the past or a Fortune 500 cover model.

One is no better, or worse than the other, fundamentally speaking.

Profound? Yeah.

You're only just realizing this? ;)
