Title: Do have a virus on my comp if youtube videos and others are really slow?
Post by: Marty Champions on February 24, 2012, 10:33:54 PM: alot of times my computer will crash and just shut off. i deframented and everything even using google chrome. it seemed to do a little better after the defrag but in a weak back to fucking up big time

Are you still using Windows 3.11?

Does it completely shutdown or does it restart? Can you power it back up instantly or do you have to wait awhile? Does it shutdown only when watching videos or at random?

Get spybot search n destroy and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and do a check.

Also get Ccleaner.

Post by: outby43 on February 25, 2012, 04:24:24 AM: Chrome browser w/ad block plus add-on + Panda Cloud AntiVirus (freeware) + Malwarebytes (freeware) = GOOD TO GO !!!

I would scan with Spybot first since it is pretty thorough. Then when it's clean uninstall it because it is a resource hog.

Look in task manager for anything that is taking up a lot of memory and or CPU when it is running slow. This may pinpoint the program that is slowing you down.
