Title: why are there Collective Bargaining laws at all?
Post by: Roger Bacon on June 15, 2012, 11:08:25 AM
I think some employees should unionize, and work together for better conditions, safety, pay, etc...

I don't understand why so many laws regarding unions and collective bargaining, and the negotiation processes exist?

Why do people need laws and the government to organize, and collectively bargain with their employer?

Sadly the idea of bargaining in good faith from both sides has disappeared. So laws are required to ensure some level of fairness.

To protect the workers from firing, being used etc.
Go read a book of how the working class was used by the rulers for decades
Unions finally gave some balance to the working people
