Title: HRT for my 67 year old dad...advice?
Post by: javln on June 22, 2012, 09:03:26 AM
I apologize in advance for posting so many questions the last few days, but you guys are so knowledgeable on the subject that I don't want to look anywhere else for answers.
My dad is 67 and his test levels are obviously low, maybe even non existent because of his age. He is, however, in great health, works out more than most guys half his age, and even looks better than most too. But I think it is time he tried HRT. I told him that we wouldn't start until I got feedback from you guys. What would be the best way to go about it? Some form of long ester test at like 100-200 mgs per week? I want him to reap the benefits of HRT...trust me he is worthy. This guy trains hard in the gym and keeps his diet and lifestyle extremely clean.

Tell him to see an Endocrinologist.

At his age he can just tell the Doctor he heard about the benefits of TRT and wants to be tested for low test because he feels tired and weak all the time.

100mg EW is the standard, but before he tries anything on his own he better be in good health.

Good luck!

Agreed, he needs his psa Checked, among other things to be sure he is healthy enough for trt. Should not be an issue what so ever.

He can start on any number of things from Androgel to Test troches - andriol - to Test enan. Prescription shouldn't be hard to obtain at his age.

At his age - he will even see benefits from Androgel.

Do you think i said that to feel "better", dumbass?  ::)

I was trying to say that I bet he has "heard" of "testoviron" or "sustanon" or any of these "terms" at some point in his life and he must know a thing or two...doesnt have to be a user do do that.

And not to "javln", I wasnt trying to "insult" your daddy, calm down.

I get my test through a Urologist. I/2ml 2X a week of 250 cyp is the max they will go. Definitely have him get his PSA checked and a digital exam. I am a prostate cancer survivor and my PSA checked perfect. My prostate. Was consumed with cancer. If he does get on he will feel a hell of a lot better. Tell him not to settle for the gel. Good luck to your dad.

gymrat, i dont understand. are you getting 250mg/ml test as a script someplace? 200mg/ml is as high as the fda allows. what brand? show the label.

My dad is around the same age and in tremendous shape just like yours. I'm trying to talk him into it. He runs 3-5 miles a day and lifts weights 3-4 times a week. He's in better shape than most of my 20-30 year old friends. Would like to see him try it but he's always been very skeptical and against aas.
