Title: Did you eat big today?

Being proud of my nutritonal consumption today, I felt compelled to share.

2 cups coffee

Breakfast:
10 egg whites w/1 yolk (229/5/0/32)
1 c steel cut oats (680/12/116/24)
½ c raisins (260/0/62/2)
1 tbsp grape seed oil (120/14/0/0)
Breakfast Total: 1289/31/178/56

Meal #2:
1 c brown rice (600/4/128/12)
~8 oz top round steak (428/14/0/72)
15 oz can peaches (175/0/45.5/3.5)
Meal #2 Total: 1203/18/173.5/87.5

Meal #3:
2 (~7 oz) medium potatoes (370/0/84/10)
8 oz ultra-lean ground beef (580/37/0/58)
3 tbsp grape seed oil (360/42/0/0)
15 oz can peaches (175/0/45.5/3.5)
Meal #3 Total: 1485/49/129.5/71.5

Snack:
½ c almonds (340/30/10/12)
¼ c raisins (130/0/31/1)
Snack Total: 470/30/41/13

Meal #4:
1 c brown rice (600/4/128/12)
8 oz ground turkey (320/16/0/22)
Meal #4 Total: 920/20/128/34

Meal #5:
8 oz ground turkey (320/16/0/22)
4 tbsp all-natural PB (420/32/12/16)
3 tbsp flax seeds (140/10/11/5)
Meal #5 Total: (880/58/43/43)   

Daily Total: 6247 calories/206g fat/693 g carbs/305 g protein

All right! Here's my meals. No totals included though.

meal 1. 5eggs 2yolks. 2 smores pop tarts. 2 cups O.J. 1 cup milk.
meal 2. 2 slices of brooklyn pizzeria pizza. MMMMMMMM!!! 1 cup sprite.
meal 3. 8oz sliced turkey. 1 cup corn. 1 cup mashed yams. 1 cup cola.
meal 4. 6oz sliced turkey. 1 1/2 cups corn. 1 cup mashed yams. 1 cup cola.
meal 5. protein time! 40g whey+casein mix.

Gezz you eat lots of corn!  Didnt think that stuff was that great of a carb choice, hard to digest I know.

OK, ok. Saturdays are my cheat day. I love saturdays! Even more now since i've made it my cheat day. I didn't think it was that much corn, but maybe it was, lol! It's just sooo good sometimes, i can't help it. Oh, did i meantion i bought the food for 3 meal at Boston market. Gotta love those sweet potatoes!

I only assumed that yesterday's menu was an abnormality in your nutritional regimen because of the ample processed sugars yielded by your provisional consumption.
Had you discharged the Pop Tarts, orange juice, Sprite and cola, you would have had a pretty solid, quasi-clean eating, bulking menu.

I told u, it was my cheat day. The gloves are off on Saturdays. But i have OJ everyday in the morning. Here is a typical day like today.

meal 1. 6 egg whites, 2 whole eggs 2 slices fat free cheese. 1 whole grain bagel, fat free cream cheese, a little jelly for taste. (I sometimes have cereal w/the eggs. Sugars are ok in the morning)

meal 2. 6oz grilled chicken. 1 cup white rice. 1/2 cup red beans.

meal 3. Met-Rx MRP add 1 banana,cap full of wheat germ,1 Tbsp non-fat yogurt, and 1 serving Lactobacillus bifidus.

meal 4. (Post workout) tacobell mexican pizza w/ extra beef and beans.20oz MountainDew. MMmmmmmm!

meal 5. Musclemilk shake.

meal 6. 8oz chicken cutlet. Secret beans in sauce (shhhhh). 1 cup white rice. Steamed broccoli w/ cesar dressing. small salad.

Snack. power crunch bar (fat.8g/sat.2g/carbs.8g/fiber.1g/sugar.4g/pro.14g/cals.175) 10oz 2%milk.

Bedtime shake: 3g glutamine. 40g whey+casein mix.

I'm bulking up right now. My diet is much cleaner come March. Sometimes, I'll throw in an extra meal.

Thanks for noticing.  I normally also have spinach with my last meal to get those veggies in there.

I have switched from white to brown rice, and rolled to steel cut oats to try and get my fiber needs met.

I also started to exclusively use grape seed oil as my cooking oil because it has even more nutrients than olive oil.

You should also try Enova Oil, its good stuff.

Here's mine from yesterday -

Meal 1: My "Breakfast shake" - 10 oz milk, 1 banana, 1tbspn peanut butter, 1 cup oatmeal, 2.5 scoops whey, 4 oz water. (when I'm cutting, this is simply 1/2 cup oatmeal + 2 scoops whey), fish oil, Vit. C, CEE

Meal 2: 2 (5oz) Chicken Breasts, 1/2 cup rice, small salad with vinegar/oil, multi vit.

Meal 3: 2 servings Almonds

Meal 4 (pre-workout): Trioplex bar

Meal 5 (post-workout): 2 scoops whey, CEE, 20gms dextrose

Meal 6: either - 2 chicken breasts with 1/2 cup rice, or 10oz of ground beef wth 1/2 cup rice, vit. C, fish oil

Meal 7: 1/2-1 cup cottage cheese + 10 grams Metamucil

spray butter

Pre WO Shake (40 c. 25 pro. 2 fat)

Post WO Shake (60 c. 40 pro. 2 fat) + 1 bowl grits

Protein Bar b/c i was in a hurry

2 chicken breasts
1 c. broccoli
2 c. fettucine, no sauce

1/2 c. oatmeal
2 scoops whey

2 scoops casein/whey mixed with milk before bed.

I have no trouble bulking on this diet.  I'm gaining about 1/2-1 pound a week, and seem to be leaning out in the process.  I plan to maintain this for a year or two, so it's slow going.

Interesting. What is your height and weight, and do you have a breakdown with the calories, pro, carbs, and fats.

I'm 6'2, 210, as of now.  That breakdown is something like 250 g protein, 350 g carb, 50 g fat.   So that would add up to 2850 calories.

I should also add that although those totals don't quite add up based on the food, i snack here and there on a spoonful of ice cream, or a Werther's original, or half a cookie or something, to keep my sanity b/c i have a sweet tooth.

I agree with that approach, even though I'm technically "bulking" this is the strongest and leanest I've been at a certain weight in 3 years.  There's a lot more to eating just above maintenance and not pigging out, as well as taking it slow, as opposed to 3 months of all out buffets only to drop 90% of what you just tried to gain.

exactly.  i think if you don't gain much fat while you add muscle, you can lose said fat while maintaining a very large portion of the muscle you built.  If you gain tons of fat, you run the risk of losing a lot muscle.

Plus, who wants to be fat during the summer months?  By bulking slowly, you ensure that if you need to taper off and lean out for just a bit, you can, without any adverse affect to the muscle you've built.

do any of y'all actually eat less on a cheat day?? Its strange but Fridays I usually just go by how hungry I am and just try to make sure I have a decent amount of protein (no pop tarts though  ;) ), and even with a cheat meal or two I usually end up eating less for the day. IE: so far today:

meal 1 - ham and egg croissant from the Blimpie at my office
meal 2 - bowl of raisin bran crunch + 50 grm whey shake
Meal 3 - trioplex bar
Meal 4 - dinner out with the ladyfriend, italian or mexican? (the food, not the girl  :) )
and that will be it, maybe another scoop of protein before bed if I'm not lazy about it.

Depending on what I have for dinner I'll probably end up with a lower calorie intake on my "cheat day" than the other days of the week.   >:(   Maybe I need to rethink the whole idea of a cheat day and head on over to Golden Corral!!!
