The biggest point of a middle name is that a kid knows he is in deep shit when his parents use it.
Andrew Jackson Griffin!!!!

I go by my middle name. Not by choice, but I was named after my grandfather and my folks decided to call me by my middle name. Why they didn't just name me the other way around I'll never know.

A lot of my fellow soldiers were in that situation.

Middle names purpose is to pacify the relative you really didnt want to name your kid after. Oh and to narrow down the identity of serial killers.

I wasn't sure on the correct spelling of my middle name until the 10th grade no joke ???
There pointless, I'd rather just put John smith of springfield than the extra name.
I donno names are fucking stupid irregardless. White folk all got the same first name, slant eyes all got the same last name.

Man, not to go all grammar nazi on you, but I don't believe irregardless is a real word. Could be wrong, but I think it's a mistake common in the English language.

Many people have relatively common names; middle names help to differentiate. If I say Michael Fox you probably have no idea who I'm talking about. If i say Michael J. Fox you know who I mean. ;)
-
The Hierarchy loves middle names. So when someone goes on a killing spree, they use the full name to create drama.
ex. John Wilkes Booth

I gave my son two middle names and now when ever I have to fill out any forms, I can't fit all his name on the allocated space. It was his fathers idea to give him two middle names.

I didn't know WillGrant had children; good for him.

Irregardless I done care.

I find it nice and pleasing to the ear when you can shorten your name to just the first and middle initial and your surname(e.g. - R. G. Armstrong, H. L. Mencken, etc.....). Many times it spices up what would be a bland name.

Not generally an accepted word in the U.S.
Use regardless instead.

I've noticed Africans rarely have middle names.

No, they just a very long alphabet soup last name, and sometimes a middle name...latinos, whoa that is a whole nother bowl of soap right there...Mother's maiden name tacked on, etc.

At one point in time lineage meant something. Sadly, that shit is no longer relevant to generation nothingness.

Usually, when Hollywood actors first get started and few know who they are, they are cited merely by first and last name. I remember when Samuel L. Jackson was simply Sam Jackson in the film, "Strictly Business", starring Tommy Davidson, Halle Berry, and, Joseph C. Phillips.
Another one that comes to mind is Wendy Robinson, now known as Wendy Racquel Robinson from "The Steve Harvey Show" and "The Game".

It's a religious thing here. Having three initials is the sign for being catholic.

This. But we use a pretty standard naming system. I haven't put my middle name on a document in years.
