You probably never saw them play or listened to an entire Rush album.

As to the OP.... It's really impossible to compare players from such different styles.

But for me, no. I'd take any of those players listed before Lifeson.

I bought "fly by night" when it came out, and bought every Rush record there was until the one after "moving pictures"...I think "permanent waves" is their best record...I was listening to rush before you were born.

Lifeson is a truly original player with incredible talent for shade and colouring and is in possession of a unique versatility.

Funny, Page was Alex's go-to guitar hero when he was a young hopeful. Desperately wanted to be him. And kinda was on the debut Rush effort. But soon enough his personality infected his playing core and other guitarists' influence also directed what he ultimately has become.
