havent had a whole lot of experience with either but i had a buddy who had two french bull dogs and those were some hyper ass dogs.

English bulldogs can be high maintenance...skin issues, you have to keep their "ropes" clean, they can't lick their own butt so you may have some other cleaning to do occasionally, etc.

Then look at other breeds because you wont be to happy with a bulldog ... :)

Owned two English bulldogs.. Very lazy.. Little bursts of energy that's lasts 5 minutes then time to lay down and chew on a toy.. That being said, the maintenance of these dogs is awful.. Eye issues.. Skin allergies.. You name it..

Beyond a doubt, a healthy mixed breed appropriately sized is the best...all purebreds have issues.  Any dog/horse fancier will tell you this.
