Title: What's your favorite style of training?
Post by: Wiggs on January 14, 2013, 12:04:11 AM
I prefer Viator's/Mentzer's/Dorian's H.I.T. It's short, it's very intense and it gets the job done better than traditional bodybuilding training. I like Super setting and drop setting also.

What is that and how does it work sir?

pure instinct... nothing i do is going to change how i look, so i don't think too hard about it.

to give you an idea of what i might do for leg day:

4-5 x ~10  sldl
4-5 x ~10 squats
1-2 x ~20 leg press
5 x 10 calf press (using leg press)

increase weight each set, or maybe do the last 2-3 sets at the same weight

some days i do 5 x 5

or maybe 3 rep sets for just a bunch of sets

sometimes just one exercise but 10 x 10

it doesn't matter... it's all the same in the end.

i do 2 leg days, one "pressing" day, and one "pulling" day each week.  on friday i try to do 50 snatches in a reasonable amount of time.

i run for 20-30 mins 3 times a week at a moderate pace (if i'm on the treadmill, start at 8 mph end up at 9.5, adding .5 mph each 5 mins).

I think it's similar to how you train.  Sometimes I'll switch off of this, and do high reps for a week.

Max-OT (maks’ ô’ tê) is an intense weight training concept/program which revolves around the idea of exercising using heavy weights at low repetitions with some rest between the sets.

Max-OT is built on the concept of maximizing the efficiency of each workout and minimizing the amount of time in the gym. It consists of doing 4–6 repetitions per set, and doing 6–9 sets with 2–3 minutes rest between each set for eight to ten week cycles followed by a week of rest. A workout session usually lasts 30 to 45 minutes. Each body part is worked once a week using free weight exercises to ensure maximum growth. Max-OT primarily relies on compound exercises to work both major and stabilizer muscles.

While an intense weight training program, Max-OT is designed for anyone interested in improving their fitness from bodybuilders to beginners.

It's not all the same in the end. If you can train in a style that will maximize damage to the muscle fibers (failure) that would be ideal. Obviously the risk for injury will be increased.

between all the popular styles, there is no clear cut difference.  if any difference exists at all, it's very small, and no one knows the extent.

Most people have no idea how to train with proper form or the right intensity to make training style actually matter

Just going back and forth between high volume and low volume when joints are achy or when I'm bored. Usually a frequency of hitting a bodypart once every 5 days with either. Just comes down to overload with my own progress, so whatever makes that happen works.

but which one of those exactly?

in Mentzer's case, he started out advising the trainee to train 4 days a week on a 2-way split with a decent amount of volume for each workout, but then he ended up advising the trainee to perform just 2 compound exercises once a week or less

I have been lifting in the style of Mentzer in his prime forever. Two work sets per exercise.

Force training. Trying to increase the weight each workout. I started out lifting stones, yoda, and R2D2. Now I can lift a star destroyer.
