with chondroitin sulfate.
Many of us take Glucosamine/Chondroitin (1500mg/1200mg) as a blend.
I've recently heard/read that there MAY be a link between prostate cancer and chondroitin. Until there are more clinical trials or studies, it's probably best for men to use straight Glucosamine.
I'll see if I can dig up some reputable info...(although, I did get this info from a pharmacist)

This concern is based upon two studies. In one, the concentration of chondroitin sulfate was found to be higher in cancerous prostate tissue as compared to normal prostate tissue. In the other study, it was shown that higher concentrations of chondroitin sulfate in the tissue surrounding a cancerous prostate tumor predict a higher rate of recurrence of the cancer after surgery. However, no studies to date have addressed the question of whether taking chondroitin sulfate supplements could promote the development of prostate cancer. Simply because a substance is present in or around cancerous tissue does not by itself suggest that that substance is causing the cancer.
I guess until there are more studies, I'd avoid chondroitin (as a guy). I haven't found anything conclusive about the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of either element on it's own, but it might be interesting to have a few guys around here try just glucosamine on it's own and report back. You should know whether it's working or not within 2 weeks to a month. 1500mg/day - no more - no less.

Could this be what you heard, but about Glucosamine instead?
"Glucosamine is an amino sugar, so it may theoretically affect blood sugar levels. However, a recent clinical study did not find evidence of such an increase"
