Just curious. How much money would you stop with? Is there really a point going beyond a certain limit and what would the point be?
-
At one time it was a million dollars liquid. I pasted that several years ago, and now it is 2 million. Who knows if I will be happy with that when I reach it.
-
Not about money for me. (assuming you speak of work)About accomplishing something big and consistantly trying to exceed my own expectations. I would get way too bored. Also think it would be cool to offer my child a company to run, or at least the option of doing so.

Too many variables with this statement. It's almost a statement that a teenager would make. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

You can always throw money my way, i can appreciate a lot less than 2 million. $50K right about now would make me a happy man.
...as for the op, i'd be happy with 1million cash.
That would be divided into rental property, and start up money for a small business.

I see. Children. If I had a child, which I never want nor ever will, I would do the same as you. I never understood why any parent with any kind of means would throw their child to the wolves with the "you are on your own mentality".
Why not give him the best of everything. I sure would. I would not make him work for it at all. Instead I would have him focus his energies elsewhere and not worry about "working for nonsense".
The Gentile brain thinks differently in that they want their children to struggle. They claim it "builds character". No, it just makes them look like morons and builds nothing but resentment.

Am I actively working for it? Or can I work towards owning say one million in real estate that would pay me for life? I chose the real estate path.

How can you possibly get bored when there are so many books to read, places to explore, dogs to pet?
I could spend all day petting different dogs that I haven`t ever pet before. I would never get bored of that.

Having one on the way has really made me think about this. I guess I'm building this now essentially and have been for the past few years.

I do a lot of traveling all over the world, and I read constantly. Still manage to work and grow/evolve a business. I oddly like sitting in my office on a Saturday morning drinking coffee working. Or traveling to a new city for meetings, it's an adventure.
I do see your point, you never know I may hit a wall.

Agree 1000%
I can teach my child just fine about responsibility and achievement without denying her shit, and making her "work" for anything i give her.
It's such an anal, dickish, mean-spirited way to be people say NO because they can. I spoil the living shit out of my kid, and amazingly...she's not an entitled little bitch, she appreciates everything she gets..and never asks for anything.
-
I've always said, money is a pleasant side-effect of intellect intersecting with passion, work ethic, and a bit of luck.
Once you find that intersection that works for you, you won't give it up. The thrill of executing your strategy is intoxicating. Like imposing your will on an entire marketplace. There's no drug like it.
I love what I do. I don't do it for money, though it has made me wealthy. But I hardly find time to spend my wealth. I simply accumulate it, and am at times amazed at what it's doing all on its own with very little help (tip: exchange traded funds with low management fees can be your friend if you're a lazy bastard and spend all your time working to make money instead of how to invest).
Now, I simply work for the love of what I do. It's become like an old friend to me. We push each other, challenge one another, let each other down, pick each other up, and surprise each other with amazing things. Each day is new, and though I don't always have all the answers, I know I'll probably find them because I'm better than most of my competition at what I do.
And when I do find answers, I make money. Lots of it. It's really quite amazing how easy it is to make money off people if you know a little bit about what you're doing. It's not like the millionaires out there are all Rhodes Scholars. Most are just guys and girls who took a shot, got a bit lucky, and stumbled into something sweet. Now, if you can be halfway smart and calculating and planful about what you do, you can get rich in a hurry.
But it won't be about money then. Then, it'll just be about the thrill of the hunt to take down the next challenge, best another opponent, and do something you hadn't done yesterday. It's a drug...there's no other way to put it.

No, you have to teach your kids the value of money, that always translates into holding down a job for an extended period of time, and not spoiling your kids rotten showering them with money and gifts left and right.
You also have to teach them responsibility by enforcing well thought out rules and guide lines, all the way from doing regular chores around the house, to thinking about their actions and behaviours pertaining to commonly underestimated pit falls people commit such drug use, sexual promiscuity, and lack of respect for education.
Sadly, what i described above is either often neglected, due to parents being dumb fucks, or you get an extreme opposite manifesting with asinine irrational dictators commanding violently either it be religiously influenced, or a clear display of mental illness.

You are a spoiled child. You make a lot of assumption in your assertions.
You assume all or most parents are capable of generating passive income that can be handed down to their kids, neglecting the fact that most people are average wage earners struggling with the expenses of life.
You assume that kids automatically learn maturity, financial responsibility, and value when you give them no reason to with excessive sheltering from any type of responsibility besides eating, sleeping, and wiping their ass.
Your use of the word "Gentile" is the most disturbing and telling as well. Most Jews I've met, especially pro-Israel Jews are nasty mother fuckers, that have a massive ego, no manners or respect for others, and have a delusional sense of entitlement. Also, they exhibit strong sociopathic tendencies, and are highly conniving sacks of vile shit.
Maybe it's in your genes, or possibly what your big nosed ugly loud rude mothers drilled into your head as children.
Either way, you are a fucking joke. The least you could do is have children and see how your childish world view pans out. lol
-
A few million liquid and a few sunk into investments. I would be more than happy to not have to "work", just spend some time managing my investments and living a simple life, no mortgage, student loans or consumer debt. I hope to achieve at least the latter in the next decade.
-
1.8 million on the button.
house, car, truch, boat, kids college funds, div fund and trading funds.
-
The most valuable thing a parent can give their kids financially is a good education. That coupled with teaching them responsibility and self-reliance will take them anywhere in life they want to go. All the other material bullshit does more harm than good. It's funny seeing the people that I went to school with that got brand new luxury cars for their 16th birthday still living off their parents into their 30's. While the "poor kids" were able to stand on their own within a year of finishing school. Of course there are always exceptions in life, but usually giving in to every whim of a child or teenager just builds a huge "mommy/daddy" security blanket that they hold dear to for as long as they can.

Psychopath has been bashing in skulls around here lately. 8)
I think the right approach falls somewhere between the 2 extremes. I think there must be a balance where your kids have to learn responsibility and discipline, but should also be mentored and helped by the parents to help them succeed.
I will say that my opinion as well as Adonis' opinion on raising kids should count for jack shit, because neither of us have children of our own (that we know of ;)).

Benchmark
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article is about the business term. For the geolocating activity, see Benchmarking (geolocating). For other uses of the term, see Benchmark (disambiguation).
Benchmarking is the process of comparing one's business processes and performance metrics to industry bests or best practices from other industries. Dimensions typically measured are quality, time and cost. In the process of best practice benchmarking, management identifies the best firms in their industry, or in another industry where similar processes exist, and compares the results and processes of those studied (the "targets") to one's own results and processes. In this way, they learn how well the targets perform and, more importantly, the business processes that explain why these firms are successful.
Benchmarking is used to measure performance using a specific indicator (cost per unit of measure, productivity per unit of measure, cycle time of x per unit of measure or defects per unit of measure) resulting in a metric of performance that is then compared to others.[citation needed]
Also referred to as "best practice benchmarking" or "process benchmarking", this process is used in management and particularly strategic management, in which organizations evaluate various aspects of their processes in relation to best practice companies' processes, usually within a peer group defined for the purposes of comparison. This then allows organizations to develop plans on how to make improvements or adapt specific best practices, usually with the aim of increasing some aspect of performance. Benchmarking may be a one-off event, but is often treated as a continuous process in which organizations continually seek to improve their practices.

Omniscience
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Omniscience /ɒmˈnɪʃəns/,[1] mainly in religion, is the capacity to know everything that there is to know. In particular, Hinduism and the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) believe that there is a divine being who is omniscient. An omniscient point-of-view, in writing, is to know everything that can be known about a character, including past history, thoughts, feelings, etc. In Latin, omnis means "all" and sciens means "knowing".
A person who appears to know everything is sometimes called 'omniscient' meaning infinitely wise or smart.
If someone only 'thinks' that they know everything, but they truly do not, then they are simply naive, egotistcal, or ignorant, or pompous.

are you scared you would not be able to provide for your kids with your current income? And why kids have to have the best of everything? Did you have?
I hate children and I am incredibly selfish. I would not want to waste one second of my life on a child for any reason. I like Animals much better and would rather have and help animals any day of the week over children. I see nothing worth liking at all about children.

TA, I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you an only child? Did you happen to lose your folks at a young age?
I've known a couple folks that share your opinions on children and they had no siblings (well, one didn't that I can recall...it's been awhile), but both were essentially orphaned at a young age.
-
I think its hard to answer that question when you are at a point that you still want "more" or still building yourself up. You don't really know how much would make you satisfied, you just know that you are not satisfied right now, or not satisfied enough.

He's gotta be an only child. You only hear that kind of disgust for kids from people who were in fact only children. His whole world-view is entirely self-centered, ever since he was a kid.
Not hating on you Adonis, I like you as a poster. But just saying your views on kids are a result of a lack of life experiences (having siblings).....something the majority of your peers can relate to and understand but something you never will.

Some people just don't like kids.... I've met people that come from good homes, have a few siblings, but just don't want the responsibility of having to look after another person. Nothing wrong with that, just their own choice.

Dogs are better people anyways.

Jezebelle feels the same way and she has a sister and a lot of cousins. In fact Jezebelle goes as far as saying how she would probably murder her child or just leave it somewhere. ha ha ha

Jezebelle and I have discussed this at great length. In all of our lives, since young we never had a desire or attraction to children, babies or any of it. We always were both disgusted at the idea of children even at young ages.
I remember at 6 and 7 years old thinking that most children were incredibly stupid (even though I was a child myself) and how much I could not stand to be in a room with a crying baby. I hated children from day one.
Same with Jezebelle. She never once had that "motherly instinct" her whole life, despite having a ton of cats and other various pets growing up.
Some of it may be genetic and or evolutionary biology related in that we are more of the hunter types, attack and defend types, preserve the self and protect the group type moreso than the child bearing, child raising types.
The thought of having a child literally disgusts Jezebelle and how it would ravage her body, let alone the actual child itself is repulsive.

When I can get up in the morning and do whatever I want.
-
we are put on earth to reproduce to maintain the species
to pass on our genetic code
anything else is against the natural order of things
We aren`t "put" on this earth. Life results from the non-random survival of randomly varying replicators.
Our bodies are just the expression of various genes and its the genes that live onward, not the person or organism. The genes are indifferent to the person or whatever vessel contains the genetic information.
Furthermore, we are not shackled to our genes. We have control over them. Just because you are born a certain way or have a certain problem, myopia for instance, does not mean you can`t change or fix it- in this case wearing eye glasses.
If we just let our genes do what they wish, why should we even bother trying to cure diseases, lessen the impact of genetic defects or wear eyeglasses or contacts.
You see, as the great Stephen Pinker says, "But I am happy that way, and if my genes don't like it, they can go jump in a lake. "
-

The Universe does not care one bit about your genetic code or anyone elses. If it did, you probably wouldn`t die of cancer when you get older. :D

I see.
No, it just makes them look like morons and builds nothing but resentment.

its intriguing that it is this way, selected food is optimal in its own unique way. i beleive each food could enhance an ability more than another food and effecting other abilities to varying degrees

You wont have to, the media will.
If you or anyone were to win the lotto the especially a mega jackpot, the correct protocol would be to:
1) change your #
2) leave the country for 2 years
3) Return but live in a diff area.

And you do not hate kids as you said in your second post that you would give them the best of everything.
I'll give you this, you are an expert in trolling. ;)
