There's this one dude that swears he's the future of French rap. First of all, who is checking for a French rapper it's awful enough and his born in Australia, second of all, he reached like 2,000 views in 5 years. Im like give up, you're not good and super delusional. just yesterday he texts me saying the DJ played his song in the club twice the same night I was like fuckoutofhere, pursue a realistic career.

I knew this other kid i used to play basketball with, short, built filipno guy, he wanted to be a rapper too.
this guy quit his full time job and purchased the sound equipment and all that jazz, his sister told me it was over $80,000, this was in 2003, as of today this dude is still trying to make it with the same garbage lyrics and some fucked beats. he works at Bunnings, which is the australian version of home depot.
for european getbiggers, its a big warehouse where you can by things for your home, grass, doors, batteries, lights, shovels, lawn mowers etc..
he didnt make it.

Yeah. I knew this guy who had an office next to mine. He wasn't even a decent coder and was always going on about he was going to go and build "the next big thing" in software. All mouth, except for being a decent hoops player. A decent guy with a hawk wife.
The thing is that he ended up quitting his job and moving closer to his family and living off beans to do this next big thing. He taught himself C and then moved on to Erlang and all be damned if he didn't turn out something interesting. And then he became something of an Internet celebrity and started a company in San Franciso to work on and market his product. Then he got bought by another company and is now a multi-millionaire. So, I guess the "fail" here is a bit missing.
But the dude is still a decent guy and a decent hoops player and fun to drink with and still with his wife and pretty down to earth.
And he's a hell of an Erlang coder.

10 years ago two of my buddies went to Cali trying to make it in show business (actors ) , one came back a month later ,the other one was doing G4P just to pay bills ( true story ) ,he's still there , now he's some kind of motivational speaker. I think he's even written a book.

Most of the operators that I knew didn't look like you. This board would refer to them as "twinks". Lean, but not ripped at all. Kinda like middle distance runners. Also, the Q Course is kind of more an mental/physical thing, testing your ability to adapt and overcome. How's your Arabic or Pashtun? Most of them are at least bilingual. I am going to assume that living in Chicago, you know how to use a gun.
Anyway, it's sticky if you make that claim around somebody that actually has BTDT. YMMV.

I make it a personal rule to not shit on peoples dreams no matter how crazy they sound to me. It's hard enough getting there without haters.

I knew a HS drop out 4 years ago ( he was 36 at the time) very friendly guy. He had a felony on his record so he couldnt get a govt job and he had no college diploma so he loaded bags at Delta. He married a wealthy older woman and 3 months later he quit Delta and became a house husband.
Over the next 3 years his goals went from:
1) Owning his own supplement store
2) Owning a Tanning bed salon
3) Owning a self-serve car wash
4) Motorcycle mechanic
5) Work at a supplement store
6) Become a sports performance coach/trainer
His wife bought him a 3 year old BMW M3 and had him run errands each day.
His daily schedule was : wake up 9am, eat a huge bowl of fruity pebbles, get tanned, yoga, body waxed, wash car, groceries, 5pm gym.
This year he started doing boot camps with a few women.

my room mate is also convinced he is going to be a rapper. unfortunately he has no concept of what it will take to get into the music business. hes old too. hes forever working on his 'album' (like so many other aspiring hip hop stars..) which has not improved much in the last year or two hes been working on it. its too bad cus i want him to get somewhere, but with his current material and utter lack of knowledge, connections, and general common sense when it comes to the music business... hes going to fail. fuck guys i casually produce music myself, and even i got one of my tunes signed by a small label.

Not as good as it sounds I bet. I lived with an ex that didn't want me to work. She could control everything then. It was cool for awhile, watched her son, got to go to the gym when she got back from work, even gave me a day completely off from doing anything. Did not turn out well.
