Title: Is eating 16 cooked eggs a week okay?
Post by: Whiskey on August 30, 2013, 08:01:05 AM
Hey guys, just wondering how many eggs you can/should eat a week, I train 4 days a week and like to eat 4 cooked eggs before I start... Is that too many?

You hear a lot of stuff like the whole egg contains LDL so you shouldn't eat more than 3 a week, some people think that the egg contains HDL so I guess that would mean the more you eat the better...

lot of information out there that contradicts each other...

What do you think??

Regards.

Won't raise cholesterol in my experience but would not recommend so much long term.

For me, I think it lead to slight allergies after awhile leading to lethargy and also increases acidity in the body.

Though, I was having 6-8 a day.

He recommended a detox period as well after a month or so and to not have high amounts of eggs indefinitely.

Eggs raising cholesterol is outdated information-In fact, food in general raising cholesterol is outdated.

I have probably been eating 12 to 15 whole eggs a day for the past 5 years I and get my blood checked regularly.  I have never had any issues.  High cholesterol in people is a result of other factors not related to diet.

What kind of factors? stress, genetic, lack of cardio training, too much alcohol? These sort of things?

Eggs are natural and healthy. The egg cholesterol scare of the 80's was just a scam by the grain industry.

It's the refined sugars and wheat and bread that is bad for you.

The whole "fat is bad for you" myth is so 1990's.

I did 4 fried eggs per day...7 days per week for 9 straight months during a recent deployment. I might have missed this 4-6 days total over the 9 months, maybe. My Cholesterol numbers will low normal. I ate that with bacon and hashbrowns...everyday..c ooked by the same guy. I did an omelette on Sunday. So thats 24 fried eggs per week plus whatever the omelette was. I constantly had to battle eating more because I'd loose weight at the drop of a hat. I think you'll be fine.

That's the great thing about eggs.  I get the 5 dozen pack which is 60 eggs for around 7 bucks.  Can't beat it.

When I was eating 6-10 eggs a day I had blood work done due to some work I was doing, and everything was good, doctors said I was very healthy.

So in my own experience it does not raise cholesterol.

Studies have shown that diet only accounts for about 5 points of total cholesterol
