Title: Coffee and Metabolism
Post by: BRO on August 30, 2013, 10:54:44 AM
Not a coffee fanatic, yet this week, decided to try a cup of coffee in the morning.

It was disgusting.

However, muscle fullness was more apparent by the end of the week, and striations were more apparent.

Is this due to the mechanism of caffeine as a diuretic, or do these effects continue with daily use?

(Is this an effect from the body not being used to caffeine, or does this always happen)

It might be that caffeine causes harder muscle contractions.  In my experience, it does not have any diuretic effects.  With regular usage, you habituate to caffeine very quickly and higher and higher doses are needed to feel the same effects.  Once you stop taking it, you crash hard.  Tapering off is best.

Caffeine should be only be used when you really need it.  Too many people rely on it as a crutch.  When you body is tired from training, you really need rest, not another caffeine hit.
