Don't know what to think about this, doesnt look to have the charm or atmosphere of the original

WTF you talking about man, that looks fucking amazing! I can't wait!!!

Ach, c'mon man.
All these remakes suck. They all do...
You can't recreate the campiness of the original Robocop. Those who got the joke enjoyed it. Those who did not, loved the action. It was perfect, and should be left alone.
-
This deserves some extra views.
The scenes with his wife and "family" are fail.
The scenes of him as a killing machine are sadly effective.
Looks hit or miss.
-
Sam jackson looks cool. Michael keaton, awesome touch. Great effects.
however...
the elephant in the room is, why bulletproof his entire body except half his face? I mean, without that exposed area, he doesn't have to hide in a gun battle. With it? any lucky headshot brings him down. Total fail that the bottom half exposed there. I guess he'll be shot probably 500 times in the movie and nobody will hit that section, of course.
Look, I can suspend reality long enough to accept robot cop conspiracy premise... but exposed mandible? I think the the fck not.

Oh I loved The original Robocop!
But man - you have to learn to see things from a new perspective! Technology is advancing, so we can have newer special effects. Re-imagining of new stories, new actors! Its cool! I'm
I mean - look how the new Batman movies turned out!

Thats like the original??? The bottom half of his face was always exposed
Like so:

Special effects mean nothing with Robocop. Who cares about special effects in this element - it was all about the writing, sarcasm and campiness.
-
Can't wait to see it but WILL NOT compare it to the original.
-
The trailer looks ok. Nice to see they included a suit similar to the original one (albeit it they go for the "tactical" version later).
-
yes, i got very mad watching the original with the exposed face. I thought for years - if they ever do a remake, they'll give him an auto helmet that covers his mouth for gun battles.
preview showed him gun battling with face exposed. makes a dude like me angry, real angry.
-
This actually looks pretty true to the original except for the black suit thing. Doesn't seem like it's just about CGI effects either. I'll watch it.
-

Thing is, not many movies have the charm or atmosphere of the movies of old (80s)
We appreciated movies in a different way when younger.
Nowadays we are just disappointed in Hollywood for not trying something new
-
With that said, Trailor actually looks good, it looks much better than i expected it to be.
Keaton is perfect, love the new version of ED_209 etc
-
looks better than i expected too but i wonder if it gets an r rating. Anyone know if keaton is a villain?

Yes. And it's a great casting as is going with an unknown for the lead. Instead of picking someone like Ben Asslick.
-
I had rather watch Cobra again.

looking good.....the Original still rocks up to this day...I watched it a couple days ago....the cast was Epic.....but, this new one seems to be good....Samuel Jackson always carry his role

Thought about this too.
In the original he gets shot with more bullets than anything in any movie ever made. Estimates put robocop getting shit with somewhere around 800, 000 bullets. And not ONE hits his face. NOT ONE

robocop, the family man ::) looks about on a par with the total recall remake, which ,whilst it looked all nice and shiny with the admittedly great special effects, was ultimately fairly dull. i bet anything that this remake will be exactly the same especially being totally devoid of any social commentary that helped make the original so great, standing the test of time.
mind you, it does have the delicious abbie cornish :P

the trouble is with most sci fi films today is the rawness is gone, they look like cartoons because of the overuse of cgi

Lol what a thing to fixate on.
The whole point of the exposed mandible is to remind you of his human origins. Otherwise he might as well just be 100% robot

but the visor can scroll down at a moment's notice... why not just something to cover the grill in a gun battle?
it makes me angry. I dont know why. It's like they're insulting my intelligence when it comes to gunfight probabilities.
I'll rent it on redbox, of course, it's great background battle while working. But my blood pressure will be higher than Jay Cutler 2 weeks out as I watch.

Well, that's life in the big city!

this exactly. which appeals greatly with the xbox generation who care more about graphics and it looking 'awesome', over story, plot, substance.

they don't all 'suck'.
i thought the fright night remake was fucking great.

that's the only shit I hate about a remake, they're either better or totally stinks.......the new Conan should have never make it past the shelves, the new total recall was total bullshit, except that I like Kate Beckinsdale. :)...the new "clash of the titans" was good, the original is still a classic, but the new one was fresh and the cast was superb
-
How is the original campy? I just don't see it. Dark humour it does have.
CGI is not automatically bad but CGI effects tend to have too much gravity and not enough inertia/mass.
This new one looks too flashy, too quickly edited and too melodramatic to be enjoyed by me.
-
Hahaha - another shit for generation nothingness.
Leave the classics alone - remake them at least under a different name.
-
Was the penis restituted? You can't be a badass if you can't make love to your woman no matter how many layers of steel they put on you.
-
If even the trailer does not get people excited...
-
His new one rotates at 1000rpm.
;D
-
CGI sucks animal buttholes.
-
the original film is one of my favorite movies ever
this new movie looks horrible
i hate how they used michael keaton-i remember him in other films-trying to see him as a character in this film is not working for me
the actor who plays murphy is defintely not right-a complete bad choice
i hated seeing him without the mask-he just looks like a dude who put on a costume whos going around the city trying to solve crimes
the original film should never have been remade

We got to keep Chick out of this gene.
-
Looks like shit - not feeling the whole "family" vibe.
They should have made it darker than the original but having said that it's going to be hard to top Clarence Boddicker. 8)
-
it could be dark but whats the bet its a pg13

Yeah in the 80s you could actually buy something for a dollar.
-
Not into all these remakes. Need more new movies like iron man or avatar

I'd buy that for a dollar!

Can Samuel L Jackson fucking die already or something... Its like hes requred to be in every action movie...WTF.
-
In the original when the bad guys killed him before he got turned into Robocop was fucking disturbing and intense. I had nightmares for years. I couldn't even watch that 70's show because I have deep hatred for that actor.
-

He makes some awful shit. I think twice before wasting the bandwidth to DL anything with him in it.

I hate how they claim he's stared in over $5billion worth of movies, because he gets credit for star wars 1-3. So lame. He is a small part.

He's fucking overrated. He has no real range. He is 'SLJ' in every film. Overacts terribly IMO.
