Title: Bodybuilding: The Dark Side
Post by: truthinBB on September 22, 2013, 04:17:42 PM
I thought maybe I could start a thread where we could discuss the stuff that often goes unsaid about bodybuilding. (IE: g4p, narcs, scammers) Anyone here have any first hand experience. I feel like we all have a story or two............

Great topic. I was gonna present one: "The House Guests: A Story of Vice and Corruption in the Underworld of Bodybuilding."  I did not have the balls to come out with it.  Kudos to you for presenting this topic.
This was not represented in "Generation Iron" and clearly should have been. Such a remarkable disconnect between the 'stars' of the show and what they do to get there. But this behavior actually begins in the junior amateur ranks.

I actually feel sorry for some of these guys. How can someone seriously become Mr. O if they have such a low moral fiber and self esteem?

Doc will be back after the Olympia to do some in depth psychiatric/psychological investigating. There are many that have transitioned to the "dark side".  If you do not believe me, ask Ed Conners. He is going 'to change the face of bodybuilding'. Lol

I love it when BBers will deflect any Qs about their use of steroids into an ATTACK on the person asking the question.

Like, "you ask me if I use steroids... I ask YOU if YOU have the dedication to eat 7 pounds of beef a day and sleep in a hyperbaric chamber?  And the answer is a resounding NO because you don't have what it takes!"

I was watching a Steve Kucio vid today and I could not help notice his acne covered shoulders and upper arms.  I respect that he is a fireman etc but BB is such a contradiction and at the end he bantered on about Evogen supplements..Ugh!  I know there are mixed reviews on Bostin Loyd but at least he is truthful.  I started following BB again a couple years ago and am totally blown away by where it has gone.

I don't remember BBers in the 90s being so driven by "haters" and all that.  Perhaps it's the forums - they're no longer insulated from the negativity, and they're given 1000 "likes" daily, with 200 comments telling them "you look awesome man, you're gonna win it all!"

There is no dark side.
It is a noble profession only done by those of the highest moral and ethical standards. They are modern day warriors. No doubt about it.

Outside of guys like Arnold, Sergio and few other how did they make a living? There were no supplement endorsements back then. Weider only gave a few very cheap paying contracts. All these guys had the time to train every day. Lie on the beach, pay for a boat load of steroids; then tan on the beach. They all had apartments and cars. WTF? You can do this without a job? How many were dealing steroids or selling their bodies?

not sure about all the guys in arnolds day,but a lot had other jobs, even Arnold and franco had a bricklaying co.nubret was a movie star in france,a lot of em owned their own gyms and in that day you could make a living off your own gym, especially if you were a bodybuilder, this was way before all the franchise pussy health clubs opened up.and most also had a lot shorter careers than boidybuilders of today, because there wasn't as much money in it.

I personally saw Arnold hustling Gay's out of the old Gold's gym. Franco called a guy over who was prancing down the street and directed him to Arnold. My buddy was standing near them and heard Arnold tell the guy 50 bucks. I was a young, naive guy at the time and was pretty shocked. Since then I have come to realize this is a dirty/disgusting sport.

this is the sad truth and nobody will admit it. bodybuilding is a chemical warfare. really respect people like bostin. its people like him who prevents kids from wasting their money on useless supplements, thinking that by taking them they'll look like a bodybuilder.

That bricklaying story was debunked years ago...Those guys never did any manual labor.
