Both Levrone and Yates came in to flat and depleted in 1996.

Why, because it was documented on film? What was so great about it? Arnold wasn't at his best. Lou was nothing special that year. If we're going for 1970's, I'd day 1972, where we had Arnold pitted against Oliva (both at their best).

2013. Without a doubt. Jay's heroic comeback, Phil's great width improvements, Wolf & Kai's epic battle for 2nd.
They'll be talking about it for centuries.

Damn, how could I have overlooked 2013? :P

Professional Bodybuilding turns most people off because it's an unhealthy looking, unnatural, fetishist cult.
3/4 of the judging should be based on conditioning and symmetry.

to me the best Olympia was 93,everyone came in at top shape, and hell the top ten were shredded.but for names in a lineup,it had to be 84,haneys first Olympia victory, counting haney you had 4 mr.olympias in the lineup, haney, dickerson, bannout and olive.plus robby, platz, beckles, callendar and paris.and it was at Madison square garden.

eh... ronnie was in good shape, but the rest of the lineup was 90s guys who were fading, as opposed to 93/95 where they were all in their prime.

look at Arnolds chest there. Best pecs ever.

I only started following bodybuilding in 1992 so any years prior to that don't mean much to me. So with that in mind I'd have to go with possibly 1993 or 1998.

maria has peanuts compared to arnold's ;D

the '99 O was great, but only for the top 3. I thought that was one of flex's top 3 showings (93 Arnold, 98 Arnold, and 99 O... maybe the '97 Ironman as well)... but everybody else seemed 'off'. Nasser was watery, levrone looked like he trained for a month... ran was on the downhill slide, ect...
95, 96, 97, everybody was lean and dry and full and grainy.. for the most part anyways. maybe i'm partial because those are the years I really started to learn about what it took to achieve that condition (i.e. drugs). Nasser gave dorian a run for his money size-wise, and from the front. and back then it was still a mystery who was in-shape and how somebody was gonna show up at the show, plus we had to wait for a month or 2 until we found out the results from the magazines. we didn't have constant internet updates and pics of guys leading up to the show or live webcasts of the contest. there seemed to be more build-up.
