Ripped off at Walmart – Money Saving lesson learned
For the past few years I have purchased my boneless skinless chicken breasts from places like Albertsons, Zaycon, Costco and every once in awhile even Walmart. My favorite place being Zaycon as the quality and prices are amazing + they deliver 40 lbs. of chicken at once nationwide — gotta love that!
The last few times I have came home from Walmart with a package of chicken breasts I got this feeling like something just wasn’t right. The styrofoam package and the little juice-soaker-upper thingy (I know… real technical) felt almost as heavy as the chicken breasts inside. I had this nagging feeling that I was getting ripped off.
So last week when I brought home another package of chicken from Walmart I decided to go with my gut and actually weigh the chicken and package.
In the store the price said $2.09 per lb. That’s an okay price – I usually get better deals at Zaycon.
Here is the package I brought home.

You should never shop at wal-mart, they sell nothing but junk. I would rather spend more money at king soopers or Safeway then give that shit hole store a penny of my money. Nothing but trash shop there.

Walmart is extremely creepy. The fact that they knowingly scam people isn't surprising...

Walmart claims lower prices but look carefully at the packaging of everything, including the weight. Tide at Safeway may be $5.99 but it is for 40 loads, Walmart charges $5.09 but look, it's for 28 loads. They sell slightly smaller containers or servings of everything and mark down their prices a bit to show they are cheaper when in fact you are paying more per serving.

When we grocery shop each week we know we have 3-4 places we're going visit: HEB (south Texas grocery chain), Walmart, Sam's Club and a local dollar store. We've compared all the normal items we buy (size, weights, flavors, prices, etc) so we know which place to get which stuff for cheapest.
Everyone says Walmart is cheap, garbage, for scummy people, etc.....LOL.....it has plenty of savings and quality foods. Their own line of bread (split top white and wheat) is excellent. The store brand "Crystal Light" is awesome, their store brand milk, oj, etc....all good stuff. Their produce is hurting though....that we get from HEB (our local grocery chain....always quality). The meats it's 50/50. We buy from whomever has the best deals that week. Although often you can buy quick sale cuts of steak, roast and pork from Walmart that are great. Chicken is often HEB or Sam's (despite Sam's and Walmart being one and the same essentially). Toiletries it varies depending on sales, but there's no scam at Walmart. I've purchased packs of chicken breasts from Walmart and HEB that were roughly the same cost and size and there was no funny business.....8-10lbs was roughly 8-10lbs. Cooked the same meal week over week with the similar chicken from each store and it yielded roughly the same amount of food.
Hey some folks like to pay $10 for the same thing that costs $5 elsewhere just because it's from "store A". A lot of these same folks pay $550 for a pair of blue jeans, designer tshirt and sneaks.

many things are a good price at walmart. I've never liked the meat there and will buy meat at publix and dry goods/tupperware/lamps/etc at walmart.
