Title: The problem with the new generation of immigrants
Post by: El Diablo Blanco on November 22, 2013, 07:26:54 AM
It used to be, come to America to become American and assimilate but now they come to America and have no interest in American culture or the American way of life and refuse to assimilate and expect you to bend to their culture and accept them or else you're a racist.  This shit makes me sick.

Why exactly should they assimilate into a morally deprived, greedy, lustful, sinful, hateful, broke as fuck, basscackwards, degenerate, society?  I'm glad they don't assimilate anymore. This place is done.

You definitely have a point. But they should see the better part of society to strive for.

Causation. It's because they refused to assimilate that we have this mess now. If the browns came in and tried to be like the whites, most of what you sited wouldn't be happening.

Yes in case you misread... It's all the immigrants fault.

I don`t really think it was ever that way.  In fact, they have assimilated more now than ever.  Before, you would have neighborhoods divided up by nationality and race and there would never be any cross-over.  The Irish, German, Italian, Asian, Black etc... would all stick to their roots and themselves.

It's still that way for the most part.  Demographic distribution indicates that for the most part groups prefer to live with others like themselves.  Recent research has shown that community cohesion breaks down the more diverse a neighborhood becomes.

Exactly.  It is still divided for the most part.  With that said, we are currently at the height of assimilation as its no longer as taboo to cross-cultures and nationalities.

Yes all immigrants... The early ones assimilated. So maybe I should have said recent immigrants? Or those who refuse to assimilate?

I don't do any of those things btw ( cept watch football ) and I agree with most of what you said. It is our fault for allowing it to take place. But that leads back to if we didn't allow it ( the non assimilation ) we would be better off.

Thats total bullshit.  Assimilation is at an all time high in American History, despite still being largely divided. All you have to do is look at historical demographics, but no.  You`d much rather believe a myth that fits your own pre-concieved conclusion based on thin air and nonsense.

What exactly should they assimilate to? There is very little redeeming about this country. It's been destroyed from within. Now up is down, and wrong is right. These laws in place don't allow you to practice Americanism as it used to be practiced. There would need to be a new Americanism and they're making it for us...unfortunately. People are content doing what they;re doing and not having to answer to anyone for it. We all know this can't continue to go on without dire consequences. Some of which we are already seeing. Breakdown of marriage, the traditional family, gender roles, questioning of faith, fornication, abortion, social taboos becoming "normal". I can go on and on. This stuff was by design and if you try to tell people that, you have a tinfoil hat. Luckily, us tin foil hatters have began to look like prophets because what we said would happen is beginning to happen.

Websites

: to adopt the ways of another culture : to fully become part of a different society, country, etc.

I'll admit, I have noticed this phenomena of many black on white crimes being blacked out (no pun) in the media. It's obviously going on but its not like the blacks are getting off innocent. It's obviously to control the mindsets of people because we have an African President and they don't want a race war just yet.

Immigrants of the past quarter-century have assimilated more rapidly than their counterparts of a century ago, even though they are more distinct from the native population upon arrival. The increase in the rate of assimilation among recently arrived immigrants explains why the overall index has remained stable, even though the immigrant population has grown rapidly.

There was a cultural and historical consistency and unity between the European immigrants and the descendants of European immigrants that does not exist with the current group of immigrants.  They don't see us as them and we don't see them as us.

There was a strong push toward assimilation where as today more value is placed on the preservation of ones native culture.  Not in a, I march in the St. Patty's Day parade kind of way but in much deeper sense that is encouraged by state and federal institutions.

Mosque at Ground Zero?  Sure I hate religion, but I think they should be free to express it.  What law are they breaking exactly?  They own the building.   Besides, two Mosques already existed prior to September 11th and the World Trade Center even had dedicated prayer rooms for Muslims.

The report uses the assimilation index, a summary measure of the degree of similarity or difference between the foreign- and native-born populations in the United States. The assimilation index is computed using three sets of factors: economic (including employment and education indicators), cultural (including English language ability and intermarriage), and civic (including citizenship and military service). The report provides information on a composite index incorporating all three sets of factors, and component indices examining one set each.

Assimilation at its highest level in decades

Figure 2 displays the long-term trends in the assimilation index from 1980 to 2011. The figure shows trends in the composite assimilation index, which incorporates data on economic, civic, and cultural indicators, and component indices that consider sets of indicators in isolation. The composite index is always lower than the components. Logically, the algorithm used to predict whether an individual is native- or foreign-born is always more effective when it uses more information. The composite index uses the most information.

All measures, the composite and all components, have shown an increase in recent years. These trends are most obvious using cultural and civic indicators. Since the onset of recession, these two indices have increased steadily. The economic assimilation index, by contrast, fell during the recession, underscoring the particular vulnerability of immigrant families in the American economy. Economic assimilation shows an uptick, however, in the most recent data. The composite index now stands at 30, after spending more than two decades in the 20s.

All four measures now stand at levels that have not been exceeded since the 1980s. The degree of similarity between the foreign- and native-born populations is now higher than it has been in a generation.

Interesting.  I'm reading up on the author right now.  One thing I notice is scant information about how immigrants identify themselves.  Do they feel a part of the larger culture?   Holding a job and speaking English are poor indicators of how much of an american an immigrant considers themselves.  I could move to Japan to work or seek an education but does that make me Japanese?

Same shit, different year. Nothing new.

Iirc 911 happened in 2001. You lose.

When did you get reasonably normal? This is not your typical racist against whitey drivel.

You must be new here or else you'd seen my many other racist drivel against blacks, Mexicans, space aliens and termites.

???

Previously, you were posting outrage at building Mosques in New York City, when it has been happening for decades with white Christians being opposed then and now.

You also dodge the fact that two Mosques existed near Ground Zero before September 11th.

You conveniently avoid that the World Trade Center had dedicated Muslim prayer rooms in the towers.

It used to be, come to America to become American and assimilate but now they come to America and have no interest in American culture or the American way of life and refuse to assimilate and expect you to bend to their culture and accept them or else you're a racist.  This shit makes me sick.
People have saying this ever since there've been immigrants. You know this, right?

Park 51, "The Ground Zero Mosque" is not even at Ground Zero.

Furthermore, they had dedicated rooms in the World Trade Center for Muslim Prayer and nothing else.  They already had a "Ground Zero Mosque" so to speak prior to September 11th.  I do not get what you are so angry at actually.

Unless You are 100% native american indian, all of us have ancestors who immigrated to the United States.

Is it hypocritical to blame immigrants today? Sure, do not just let them hop fences/borders, but let immigrants who follow the rules enter.

Most of America are ancestor's of British, and irish immigrants. If you are white in America, then you can trace your roots elsewhere.

There are way more hard working mexicans than gangbangers.

I don`t really think "Mexican gangbangers" present a national problem and I don`t believe you think this is the case either.

I hate religion more than you do, (at least I think I do), but I don`t understand the false equivalency of a normal Mexican and a rabid Muslim.  Would you rather have a Normal Muslim than a rabid Mexican?  Just curious.

No thats not it either really.  We do not have near the social welfare programs that some other countries have.
It's well known that NC and Maryland have easy social programs to get "free stuff"...especially, which is why LE will see illegal immigrants going between both states.

Why is this term always used? "Hard working"? And why is it that many of the countries from where these "hard working" people come from, are not benefiting from the "hard work"? Meaning that these countries have a standard of living that seems to be below the American poverty line for most of it's inhabitants?

And why is it that we tend to apply the term "hard working" to people who do manual labor? In American History, it's black slaves, Italians, Latino, Irish, Chinese, Spanish, African, English, whatever...it is usually in reference to those who come in and do manual labor jobs---and keep their mouths shut.

I find that this term is often implied to mean "of the working class" or "blue collar" and is a slick way of making a class distinction, of defining someone without really demeaning them.

I don`t really think it was ever that way.  In fact, they have assimilated more now than ever.  Before, you would have neighborhoods divided up by nationality and race and there would never be any cross-over.  The Irish, German, Italian, Asian, Black etc... would all stick to their roots and themselves.

None of us were born in the 1800's or 1920-30 ( vince and wes excluded) so my point of view is not based on then.  Yes little areas assembled back then, little Italy, china, etc...  But I'm talking about the last dozen or so years.

My father was born in 1929 and was one of those Italian immigrants settling in Philly. He learned English, sold fruit, etc. Became an American. He didn't come here and try to force everyone else to speak Italian. My parents had me and my sister later in life... He was in his 50s... Because they waited until they were stable had a house money for our education etc.

The parasites you call immigrants today are NOT the same. I'm 40 and first generation in America.... And grew up in South Philly... Which still is very multicultural ( mainly oriental now ) so I have a decent perspective on the matter.

I did not understand this, as it was not in Spanish
Also, why does the link keep referencing Mexico?
That is offensive to my Central American cohorts, and again. This means nothing as it is not in Spanish.
You should give me the option of Spanish, as it is given by banks, ATMs and other businesses.

I don't agree with the OP but I think I understand why he thinks what he does.  Immigrants are not assimilating any more slowly than they have in the past, but I think the ones that are not assimilating are not "keeping their heads down" as they did in the past.  That's all.

actually the problem is that many of the anchor ninos DO adopt the typical American young persons ''work ethic'' - in their minds why should they get paid minimum wage doing manual labor when they should be earning six figures (as high school drop outs with no marketable skills)

so you end up needing to import even more hard working poor from the country next door and their kids grow up entitled

Once you grant citizenship to illegals they are no longer attractive to employers because of pesky things like paper work and minimum wage-among other things-, thus requiring more illegals and guest workers to fill the vacuum.  It's a constant never ending cycle.  Amnesty will create millions of illiterate workers who can't speak English and have no education or marketable skills.  They won't even be able to find consistent work in the fields they were formally employed as an illegal.  Now how will these newly minted citizens provide for their families?
