actually.. December and January are usually the slowest times for gyms... people put off their new years rez until like Feb when they realize "oh shit.. I gotta get into the gym".

And I dont mind because all those members are what keeps rates down.

Not in Florida. The gym is busy for about the first 2-3 weeks of January and then all of the fatties and twinks vanish.

Yeah, will be fucking great. My gym already has a good 20-30% more members than it should have, based on available room and equipment. Will have to take it slow on the heavy androgens and double my hypertension medication dose.

2nd and 3rd weeks of Jan are busiest when the gym membership specials run

I train in the afternoon, so will avoid the evening rush.

reminds me of the exact same thread someone started last year, and the year before last year, and...etc. I think his nickname was "240orbust" or something.

Get to gym at 4-5AM during 1st 2 weeks of January.
Stick to heavy free weights and stay off cables and plate loaders.
Train chest and biceps early morning.

most newyears people come in totally thoughtless about gym etiquette, dazed and confused lost as to what to do and how to do it.
others come in with a "written plan" they prob found on some phone app. they write down notes after every set in their notebook, they carry their water bottle like it's gold.
the other kind of newbie is that guy who WAS bad ass back in high school / college and thinks they are going to command instant respect because of what they say they "USED TO DO". jump straight to the heavy weight with partial reps only doing bench and curls EVERY DAY YOU SEE THEM - bench and curls.
in our area their usually gone by the end of march.

Arrrgggghhhhhhh why did you remind me of this? I should just do squats all January. At least I will have the squat rack to myself, after I kick the retards out from doing dumbbell curls in it.

THIS. I've been training very hard lately... planning on going all out for another 4 weeks, then maybe taking a week or two off when the newbies come back.

yep this is what i experienced as a gym manager in the past.... they are trying to get caught up in their credit card debt too from all the christmas gifts... then bam feb and march we would get those new years resolutioners.

Mostly women doing cardio. Usually goes away after a few weeks but it's annoying while it's happening.

dont despise them they re the reason why gyms still exist and you can train in them and mock the newbies until they leave.

I try help if they ask, most do vanish, but there are some that do stick it out.
Sydney has soooo many gyms now, the rates have dropped down a lot. by half.
First 2 weeks it will be busy then they go back to work or say fuck it.
lot of the new gyms now don't do contracts so it works well for the new year resoluter.

I dont even watch basketball but I gotta learn the laker scedule. My ghetto gym is empty whenever the lakers play but packed like a can of sardines most days except friday and sunday.
