to all the GB car experts
what is the better Porsche 911 to drive?
the 993 or 996 version?
and why?
and which has better future collectibility? easily the 993 right?
-
996 are the least desirable and prices are really good in the used market, these were the models which were down on quality, egg shaped headlight/controversial styling , also first water cooled
993 prices esp turbo versions remain high and enthusiasts adore these models
Me, personally would get a 997 but those are fairly new , and depending on your budget, expensive

Just talk to Parker he knows more than any of us.

I raced 993's in SCCA, but for a daily driver/street driven car, I'd take a 996.
I actually like the styling and headlights on the 996.
my racing days are over (both street and track), so I want comfort, driveability, and ease of use.. the 996 is more comfortable to drive, plus I doubt i'll ever buy another car with a clutch.. when I was younger, I didn't think I'd ever have a car WITHOUT a clutch. pushing a clutch pedal with an asscheek full of oil gets old after 15years. lol

A layman wouldn't be able to tell , the difference is negligible. Test drive both , see which one you prefer because you'll never know eithers limits

993...last of the air cooled engines. Also, the quality of the cars seems to be that of a bank vault. Like the Mercedes of old...open the door and close it, it has that "ca-chunk" sound of solidity.
This past June I saw a white 993 Carrera (Carrera 2 or 4, don't know) driven by a high school kid for his Prom. It had black BBS type wheels, beautiful car. Timeless.
