Alex Rodriguez suspension: MLB's evidence to be presented on 60 Minutes Sunday night
Biogenesis clinic owner Anthony Bosch and MLB COO Rob Manfred will appear during primetime to hash out details of the case against A-Rod.
The world will get a look at the details of MLB's case against Alex Rodriguez that led to his 162-game suspension Sunday night on 60 Minutes. Biogenesis "doctor" Anthony Bosch will appear with MLB's chief operating officer Rob Manfred to shine light on the details that led to the suspension, including witness testimony and uncovered text messages.
According to CBS's press release about the broadcast, Bosch's claims against Rodriguez include the following:
-He personally delivered banned substances, including testosterone, insulin-like growth factor 1 and human growth hormone to Rodriguez at least a dozen times and Rodriguez paid him $12,000 a month in cash.
-He personally injected Rodriguez because "Alex is scared of needles, so at times, he would ask me to inject."
-Rodriguez's mission was to hit 800 home runs and that the Yankee slugger asked him for what he gave MLB superstar Manny Ramirez, a former Bosch client
-Text messages obtained by 60 Minutes between him and Rodriguez indicate that at times they communicated daily about the substances the slugger took on his "protocol"
-Says Rodriguez associates intimidated him to try to prevent him from cooperating with MLB in its investigation of the Yankee third baseman.

Yes, that's all part of the plan to bring him down and make MLB/Yankees look as the victims ......
If you're a young player with many years to play you get 50 days suspension for PEDs
IF you're a veteran player breaking records and cashing in bonuses. You get destroyed.

Hi Arod.

all that gear, but he never look jacked.
-
saw this commercial during the den-sd game.
what a joke.
-
as a Blue Jays fan, i'm pissed with the year long suspension because now the Yanks can take a run at Tanaka (with Arod's 2014 salary off the books. )
-

They were going to anyway.

Don't worry Karma will keep taking care of the Yanks.

the Yankees weren't gonna try to stay under the luxury tax threshold this year?

Hi Arod.
there is one thing Aroid and homolito have in common..their choice in...."women" :-X

-

They were going to try, but not at the expense of being non-competitive. There's been talk all along that they would not stick to it, as they suffer greatly financially when they don't make the playoffs. That's why paying a few extra million per year to get a player makes complete financial sense. I think they lose 60M in gait alone when they miss the post season.
They need Tanaka, since he projects to be a solid MLB #3 right from the get go. They've actually HURT themselves by not using their financial advantage in the international market. They've always had some high end talent generate from their - Matsui / El Duque, etc...and if they went all in on Darvish and Cespedes, or Chapman, they'd be in a much better place right now.
-
So even pro athletes take bunk gear?

nowadays in MLB, if you're using PEDs then it's probably wise not to come up to the plate looking like you walked off a bodybuilding stage.

$12,000 a month to look like a natural.
Showing obvious signs of PED use isn't wise.
EDIT: Just saw Tom's post....same thing.

if tony is gettign 12k / month
how much is he getting to drop a dime on the client paying that?

Imagine if arod posted a pic of himself on getbig just covering the face.
Arod would get laughed out of here for looking like that despite taking all those drugs. ;D

Hey guys, it's the off-season, just wanted to post a pic of me and my friend at the park.

all Babe Ruth needed was beer and hot dogs.
-
all Babe Ruth needed was beer and hot dogs.
Babe Ruth
Before Chamberlain's mind-boggling claims, perhaps no Hall of Fame athlete in any sport had had a reputation for womanizing to match that of Yankee immortal Babe Ruth.
And with Ruth, it wasn't just the sex, it was across the board debauchery. Yes, Ruth enjoyed the ladies, but he also enjoyed booze, cigars, gambling, prodigious amounts of food, and staying out all night.
He missed the better part of one season with syphilis. (Of course it was not reported as such at the time. The team claimed instead that the Babe had been felled by gastrointestinal troubles due to consuming too many hot dogs-actually not an implausible claim, given his gluttonous ways.) Another season he had to get an advance on his entire year's salary because he had already spent and gambled the money away.
Ruth's teammate Bob Meusel claimed that the Babe had a habit of routinely sleeping with multiple women in the same night, stepping outside into the common area after finishing with each to take a break and smoke a cigar. Meusel often lost track of just how many women Ruth had, but then he would glance down at Ruth's ash tray to count the cigar butts. Babe's record? On at least one occasion, seven cigar butts accumulated in that ash tray.
Unlike Namath, Ruth put up spectacular numbers on the field. But like Namath, you can make the case that he didn't come close to living up to his potential. As it is he would make anyone's top five list of greatest baseball players of all time, and might well get the most number one votes. And that's with abusing his body throughout his career. Imagine how much longer he could have played, and how much better he could have played had he actually cut down on the vices and focused on keeping himself in top shape, like Cal Ripken, Jr. and so many contemporary and recent players. Not only would his records still stand, but few players if any would even be halfway to some of them.
What is it with the Yankees and debauchery, by the way? As great as Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle was, he too no doubt could have achieved far more on the field if he hadn't been drunk a good portion of his career. In modern times, Yankee great Derek Jeter is said to "get around" about as much as any star athlete (though in his case his reported sexual success has not been accompanied by a general abuse of his body, as he in fact is an excellent athlete in excellent shape).
-
all these responses talking about him looking like shit despite all the drugs he used....
what utter nonsense.
did he train like an athlete? or did he train like a bodybuilder?
did it matter 1 fucking bit how he looked/looks when it came to physical performance?
did having ripped serratus, separated Teres-major, and peaked biceps help him one bit on the field?
fucking idiots...

look at Conseco in his prime... guy was definitely into how he looked and knew he didn't need to look like that to perform at the highest level in baseball.
-
Fack..12gs!!
-
looked like shit
-
This is really bad as it will likely prompt more congressional action to "clean up sport" which translates into millions for the DEA to arrest ugls and end users who have literally nothing to do with any kind of sport.
Last time we had this nonsense it sparked ORD, nothing good can come of this.
-
Immunity from prosecution and no threat of prison time.
Given that this is in arbitration, this appears to be a an internal matter... wouldn't that type of deal be made with the authorities?
-
$12,000 a month to look like a natural.
And to be the best right hander hitter in the past 50 years and only player who at one point had the chance to hit 800 hrs.
-
oh and the reason he doesn't look like a someone who's taking a bunch of PED's??
Maybe he didn't want anyone to notice. :o
-
all Babe Ruth needed was beer and hot dogs.
And a drug free pitcher throwing only fast balls and curves at 75 mph and pitching every other day and throwing 9 innings even when burnout. And some even working a part time job on the side. Lol.
Yes today you can face 5 different pitchers in just one game all throwing over 90 mph a collection of different pitches. And with the right "protocol".
Yes. The game has changed.
-
Arod's attorney on 60 Minutes tonight was terrible. Dude looked and acted like he was on Stenox and Anadrol.
-

and (not to mention) the Babe only played against white guys.
-
What's lost in the Arod story is the fact that MLB has the "toughest drug testing program in the history of American team sports" and Alex passed each and every one of the test ...
And for that reason he deserves to be on the opening day roster!

$12,000 a month to look like a natural.
If you think about it, the only people who use juice to change the look of the body are bodybuilders.
Baseball players use them to get stronger and faster.

Bodybuilders can't even afford medical care.
Only in a board like this people make fun of AROD for using steroids and not look huge.
WoooSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Immunity from prosecution and no threat of prison time.
This! Feds will be going after A Rod, Grand Jury will be next!
-
Well we all know what a fine upstanding citizen Bosch is...
-
The guy honestly loooked like he he had no fucking idea what he was talking about when it came to AAS.
-
The guy honestly loooked like he he had no fucking idea what he was talking about when it came to AAS.
He was paid by Cashman I mean MLB to throw AROD under the bus.......
but to his credit MLB texted Alex some 16 times and ALWAYS came out clean .
-
Why?
For several reasons....
1- If ARod wins his case in federal court he could be playing this April.
2- If he loses he could be suspended and get 61 millions for remaining of next 2 seasons from yankees .
3- MLB are paying Bosh to say what they want him to say in order to destroy Alex for good.....even that Alex wanted to kill Bosh in Colombia lol.....to justify the $$$$ and "immunity ",security etc MLB is still giving to this day to MrBosh.... Alex can play that game too or worse, go Canseco style on them and bring the whole system down youre smart enough to know Biogenics is not the only clinic providing "nutrition" to MLB across the nation...
4- If Cashman keeps pushing that button, they might be 2 others distractions in Yankees nation by opening day.
And Bud Selig can "clean baseball" and start all over like he does every year since 1992.
-
What everyone one is failing to see
Ryan Braun won at (age 28) MVP in 2011, and tested positive for PEDS he said that such results were "contaminated" so MLB let it "slide", he played for another season then comes the Biogenic scandal and Bryan is finally suspended for 50 days (first offense) plus 15 extra days for testing positive once again and for "violations of the Basic Agreement and its Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program," BS by MLB.
Alex hasn't tested positive in MLB and look what the system is doing to him ....Bosh is revealing' that he injected Alex himself and now he fears that Alex and his mafia might kill him in Colombia.
Dear Yankees don't want the guy no more? give him his money and fire him ....and see if another team is interested in his services, that's why you sign contracts for......
This any judge outside MLB can see clear

I was asking you why you feel karma would be anti Yankee.

I was asking you why you feel karma would be anti Yankee.
None of the things Ive mentioned are "pro Karma" to the Yankees.
-
is it just me?
I feel like the baseball ownership are a bunch of guys that got sand kicked in their face at the beach. Or maybe they didn't make the baseball team in high school or something.
Nobody gives a shit about all the juiced up football players but we have to hear about one or two baseball players for years. What is this shit?1!!?!!!111

You're confusing the shit out of me. Are you pro, or anti Yankee? If anti - explain why karma would hurt them.

It's because they don't want to lose their anti trust exemption.

Im not anti Yankees... I don't even like Alex I'm just telling it like it is.
Its long story from the beginning the Yankees did everything in their power to get ARod who at the time was the best player and (ShortStop )around, the Yanks having Deter Jeter in his prime didn't need Alex at all !!! but they got him anyways .....when the contract ended, the Yankees resigned him with an offer Alex couldn't refuse once again the highest paid baseball player in history, they knew they will have to pay about 30 millions per year even when Alex turns 39,40,41 but they gave him the money anyway just to make sure that no one can have 'ARod but the Yankees ....
Now you take it from there. ;D
-
Mr. clutch ::) Jeter didn't will never have 1/4 of the talent alex had. The guy could of probably played in the nfl...he was that talented. Just watching him field is like watching a ballerina......probably the Most graceful player since Griffey.
Jeter worked his ass off to become the player he did, a lot of cats out there far more talented who will never be the player Derek is

typical a guy who likes a pretty boy sissy like Alex would also be in love with Griffey, the original baseball prima-donna. you're a phil heath fan as well, I bet.

what about Arod's alleged active interference with MLB's investigation?
(which supposedly makes his case different from the others who were suspended)

Why give Arod a penny. He'll miss all this year and when he comes back, he's 1 positive test away from lifetime ban and zero dollars...Arod's been on juice since his high school days. Now MLB can test him every day of the week if they want to. And if 1 test comes up dirty, its lifetime ban and the contract is void...All the Yankees have to do is give A-rod some rope and he will hang himself...Test him every day when he comes back and Arod won't have time to manipulate his hormone numbers...And there's no way he will play clean.
-
It's because they don't want to lose their anti trust exemption.
that explains the exceptionalism. didn't know this about baseball. wow :o

If u believe evey Thing Bosch is saying, then why not any big talk around the sports community about boschs claim Arods but a hit out contract on him when he asked to hide out Colombia?

dude should've left the country.
dude was a steroid dealer/businessman... he should've had some cash saved up. you can live pretty well on $12k per year in Thailand, even better in Saigon. if he had $240k in investments and only getting 5% interest, he could've lived off that pretty easily with an account in Grenada.
even if they took his passport, it's not hard to get to Colombia or Venezuela. could've just gotten in a boat in New Orleans and sailed down.
instead he stayed and faced charges and allowed himself to be put in the position to be a fucking rat.
when it's time to run, you better fucking run.. or you're regret it forever. either way, your life will never be the same.
-
the offer was 50k and a trip to Colombia...really? sounds like a shitty deal!
Arod was, it's reported, was trying to eliminate tony ,so, tony is listening to his lawyers.
Baseball and Bosch struck a deal that included security for Bosch in exchange for his testimony.

I'm well aware of the history. They didn't "do everything in their power" to acquire him initially. When the ARod to the Sox deal fell through, largely because the MLBPA wouldn't let AROD take less pay, and then ARod soured on Boston because Luccino tried to portray ARod and the MLBPA at odds, Cashman made an offhand statement to Boras about Rodriquez possibly moving to third. Boras actually took it to ARod and and he was all for it.
As for the re-up of his next deal in 07, that was all Levine and Steinbrenner, not Cashman. Cashman was more than willing to let ARod walk after his opt out. It was a stupid contract, as are all 10 year deals.

My post was about people saying the Yankees should just pay him off to retire...I'm saying they shouldn't pay him off and let him play after his year suspension. Test him everyday and he will turn up a positive test with that much testing. No doubt about it. Then the Yankees will get out of the contract and A rod will get lifetime ban...Yankees will save themselves over 60 million in 2015 when Arod tests positive and baseball will be done with him...So I agree with you. Play out the contract but test him everyday and some days twice a day...

I agree they shouldn't pay him out, but the MLBPA won't let them test like that.
-
With all that money I don't understand why Alex just won't walk away from baseball. I mean the guy is 40 right? late thirties? 20 years making money doing what you love, and being the highest paid player of all time isn't enough? fuck I'd take 5 years in the mlb and walk away graciously.
-
but why so much "investigations" if the guy hasnt tested positive yet ?
WoooSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH H
well, Arod has admitted to juicing in the past which of course MLB can't nail him on.
but re never testing positive ... does MLB have a reliable test for hgh? (don't think so)

Sure you would, that's why so many do just that. ::)
These guys are competitors to the nth degree. THIS IS WHAT THEY LOVE TO DO. They don't just walk away from it when they've made enough. There's many other things driving it.
But also - he wouldn't walk away and leave 60M on the table either. These guys aren't wired like that. Look at the ridiculous justification Cano tried to make for taking his $.
-
I agree they shouldn't pay him out, but the MLBPA won't let them test like that.
What is the protocol on guys who test postive? I think I read somewhere that Daryl Strawberry was tested a couple times a week for drugs during his playing days after he was nailed a couple times...

Yes it was...I'm trying to find info on how often they can test someone who's been suspended for PED's but can't find the info. If someone can find it please post it up...
