I think it would be cool to start doing a fun fact every Friday, so were going to try it and see how it goes (and I know its not Friday yet). Leave a comment if you want Fun Fact Friday to be a part of Swag Food™.
Hamburgers are one of my all time favorite foods. Especially when they're big and juicy with the works, and a nice milkshake to wash it down. But I was wondering how long all that takes to digest, because I always feel extra slow and sleepy after eating a big burger. Is it just me or do hamburgers take a long time to digest? Well according to Dian Dooley, Associate Professor of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, it takes up to three days to fully digest a hamburger. On the other hand a fruit salad takes less than 30 minutes to digest. Our bodies are extremely efficient at digesting raw fruits and veggies because they have a lot of water in them. Humans are 70% water and so it makes sense that foods with a lot of water would digest easier.
More Digestion Facts:
Yogurt takes 2-3 hours to digest
Spaghetti takes 4-6 hours
After you swallow food it travels to your stomach in a matter of seconds
Muscles contract in waves to move the food down the esophagus. This means that food would get to a person's stomach, even if they were standing on their head.
1.7 liters of saliva is produced each day.

I propose an experiment:
Eat a hamburger such as you describe with all the trimmings. Immediately
after eat a small bowl of whole kernel corn. Note the time and date. Use the
corn as a "marker" and measure how long it takes for the corn to appear in your
"movement".
I await your findings.

How is digestion defined. Is it from ingestion to elimination. Most are concerned when it clears the stomach so they can't workout. And I've always believed it about two hours depending on what you eat and how much. Obviously a steak won't clear the stomach as fast a banana. And three tuna sandwiches will take longer than one.

14 hours 17 minutes and 11.8 seconds.
this is for a quarter pounder
if you had cheese it takes an extra 8 minutes 6 seconds
if you had jalapeno's you can speed it up to 12 hours 45 minutes and 7.66 seconds

when you come from eating clean and shredded and eat some trash like fast food burgers, you can feel it takes forever to clear the system.

PYT's Deep-Fried Ellio's Burger is the monster of your childhood dreams
You probably made Ellio's Pizza sandwiches all day, every (unsupervised) day in 6th grade, but trust us, they always had a startling lack of burger. PYT's latest monstrosity has arrived, and it's the Deep-Fried Ellio's Burger, an unfathomable combo of mozzarella and provolone cheeses, a meatball patty, marinara sauce, and deep-fried Ellio's pepperoni slices. You can grab one today if you live in Philly, or just stare longingly at the photo above and be inspired to make your own.

I don't think you would feel that from a real hamburger, Galeniko.
Fast food is nasty stuff, it's a distant relative of real food.

Easy answer to all you juicers problems. Do not eat red meat or juice!

Forgive me if i'm being an idiot here, but lets say you wake up at 6am and before you train you eat a ripe banana. Obviously, by the time you have finished your 45 min weight session, the banana will not be fully digested (as Gal mentioned, it does take a few hours) BUT, there is a reason that diabetics are advised to carry a chocolate bar/banana/sugary drink with them at all times - if they get a Hypo, they can eat it and there WILL be glucose in their bloodstream within a few minutes.
So eating a pre workout banana is not going to be fully digested in time to 'fuel' the workout (your body will use glycogen stores from the liver from the previous days eating to do this btw) but, it could still boost the glucose in your blood, and help energy levels?
