Title: How do people get sucked in?
Post by: Irongrip400 on February 09, 2014, 06:03:09 PM
To bullshit theories? Now, I'm not naming names, but there are folks on this board/in life who seemed to get sucked into the conspiracy theories. I'm talking about things like Jews controlling the world, because we all know this is true ;D, but these stupid ass conspiracies and prophecies. As I sit here watching a program on Military History channel about Nostradamus, there are people who dedicate their lives to this guys quatraines and decoding them. And most are a reach, but there are a few that are so far beyond that. Why do people want to believe that bad? Not trying to compare this to religion, because that's a whole other topic, but just a discussion on the utter stupidity of it all. It blows my mind. This one guys is actually dressed similar to Nostradamus. ???

I think that I have seen that History Channel show. What surprised me was how vague and open to interpretation his predictions were.

"In the land where they farm and cows a woman will have a son, this son will have children"

"there will be poverty and an uprising some place where there is poverty"

That's what I'm saying, this shit is so far beyond a reach, it makes me question the sanity of these people.

I  asked a similar question while playing Poker with a group of well educated professionals and was referred to a web-page that had this to offer......

"The average IQ in the United States is usually set at 100. Groups within the US score different average IQ's, such as 115 for college grads or 85 for African-Americans. Similarly, average IQ varies from country to country, shown in the 2002 book IQ and the Wealth of Nations (sets Britain at 100)"

I can only assume that the consensus of opinion is that the lower portion of the US IQ population tends to believe 'stuff' that the  upper portion considers to be 'foolishness" or outright stupiidity.

And yet Edward_Snowden and every other CIA and NSA agent believes in many different types of conspiracy theories...I wonder why that is? I guess these people have an IQ under 100 :-\...Obama supposedly has a pretty high IQ(130+)...However his people don't want him talking in front of the press with Vladimir Putin because Putin will make him sound half retarded. Putin believes in UFO's and many other conspiracy's that others think are stupid. Wonder why that is?

Conspiracy theories, religion, pop-culture. The vast majority of people are fucking vacant eyed, egocentric, monosyllabic, drooling morons.

Period.

It's beyond that...
Some people want to believe that they haven't gotten anywhere in life is because a more power group has conspired against them. Which has happen throughout history.
And then, you have history, which shows that there are small groups of controlling parties that dictate our lives...some are more transparent than others.

People speak of anarchy, but the true way to bend the masses to your will is to covertly do it. Through various mediums.

Now Notrosdamus, what is the percentage that he was correct and wrong?

Biggest problem with vast conspiracy theories is the amount of people that would need to be "in" on it for it to succeed.  It would be virtually impossible to keep those many people quiet for an extended period of time.
