Title: How long will ronnie stay on top?
Post by: hillbilly on January 12, 2006, 04:05:16 PM
What everyones opinion on ronnies future?
Will next year be his last?
Is he already done?
Or will he make it 10 as he predicted?
???

why, as long as he wants, of course :)

I think he will break Haney's record and retire then.

He is too close to breaking it to stop now.

His age is starting to show in certain muscle groups, like his triceps.

I believe that next year will be his last.

How long will ronnie stay on top?

As long as he wants, or until Alti makes him switch up to Doggystyle.

Who can say?  ???

I believe Ronnie can get 10. But if Jaw Gutler improves as much as he did from 04 ---> 05 he may just force Ronnie into retirement. Same way Haney had to go out. Gustavo put it best at the interview at the olympia, Ronnie is old and everyone else is hungry

Well you can kinda see the years of heavy training taking their toll.  At age 41, Ronnie's left vastus lateralis is slowly creeping upwards as his quad injury progresses year after year.  His left triceps seemed to look a little funky at that guest posing after the 2005 Olympia; maybe it was just a temporary injury or whatever, who knows.  Other people commented on Ronnie not being able to fully extend his left lat in his rear lat spread, although I failed to see what people were talking about from the pics.

SO...  who knows how long his body is going to hold out.  I think Coleman's Olympia dynasty is well-deserved but I have my doubts as to how long he can keep it up.

Personally I'd rather see him go out on top than get beat by some young upstart and end his career on a less than perfect note.

Til the judges see that torn-ass tricep.

His past two wins he didin't have staight firsts , and Jay actually beat him on the back double bicep and rear latspread , which are the two poses Ronnie owns , there is no doubt that he isn't anywhere near as good as he used to be , so perhaps he is losing ground to the younger guys .

note that the loose skin in the lower back that plagues Jay is STILL there.

His back has certainly improved, but it was NOT better than ronnie's just yet.

According to the judges scorecards , they commented on this in the lastest Flex , I thought it was odd as well , I don't think Jay has him in the back double bicep shot , maybe the rearlatspread .

I read that too in FLEX magazine. Flex is on crack.

Jay needs to lose the loose skin in the lower back before he will ever have a better back than Ronnie.

It wasn't Flex making the statement , it was them mearly reporting the judges tally , Jay has improved his back not doubts as well as his ham/glute tie-in , and Ronnie's back is no where near as sharp as it was in 98 , but I just don't picture Jay beating Ronnie in the B/D/B shot , maybe the rear latspread.

ronnie will win it until he retires, but i agree with hulkster on the "certain muscle groups" thing.  some, like his triceps, are getting flat

Ronnie never has loose skin type issues in any pose. And he is obviously stronger than cutler, which I thought pretty much everyone was aware of. At least Cutler chooses to never lift as much because of his higher volume training.

Ronnie is a shadow of his former, unreal, self. Win or lose This should be his last year up there. I don't want to see him go out like Dorian....A one-armed joke of a champion that was given the title purely on name.

He will get his 9th Mr O and then call it a day.. It will leave the rookies something to train towards, to try and attain 9 mr o's in a row. Some day some uknown bber will come along and surpase ronnies title.. Im thinking in 5 years or so there will be someone who will have the talent and the genetics to pull it off ;). But not right now with the way bbing is going..

At age 42? Seriously, a man's mass and strengh peaks in his mid to late thirties, then starts to decline at 40. Yet, Ronnie did his astounding physical transformation at this age, so my guess is that he still has a few years ahead of him. Ronnie's major strengh-his astounding muscle fullness-has already started to decline, as is expected from a man who has entered middle age. Ronnie never had astounding density and dryness, so if he loses his fullness, what is left? A middle-aged man, with flat muscles and a big belly. Ronnie has entered the age, when a man's body, starts to show deminishing returns from training, irrespective of how much dipped in sauce he is. Cutler, conversely, at the age of 31, has not even started to peak yet. Will Ronnie win this year's Olympia? Probably. Next year? I don't know.

I disagree with that. Cutler is growing in all the wrong places. His vastus lateralis is deflating, stomach expanding. Palumboism if you will. I doubt Jay will ever win the O.

Coleman imo has been going downhill the last few years but being Mr O & looking at past history he'll keep the title as long as he wants it!Saying this I feel he has the next Mr O unless he screws up big time but I feel that maybe going for a 10th title may be where he gets his title taken from him if he continues to regress as he has been. Not taking anything away from the man, he is awesome & admire his dedication to his chosen profession but as stated in Pumping Iron by Arnold, you either stay at the top of the mountain or you fall unless you stay hungry & the food is there.I really do feel however that his body is getting worse each year, but hey, so was Yates & we all know that no one ever took his title & he just ended up retiring right?
