What's wrong with being a cynical arsehole?  Isn't it only the newage positive affirmation fagboys that it upsets anyway, when you constantly smash their fabricated reality built on denial into thousands of pieces with doses of raw truth.  Not being cynical is what caused the world to be inhabited by billions of wishful thinking idiots desperately clinging to fantasy and imaginary friends.  What the world needs is MORE cynical arseholes, not less.

having a positive affirmation is not new age, it's actually being a cynical a-hole that is more "new age".
Or maybe it's just that being a cynical a-hole is actually a cycle which societies go thru when they have reached a certain zenith (or low) and everything goes.

Fuck off with your idiotic thinking, positive affirmation is littered throughout the newage propaganda.  Practising such a thing would have got you locked up two hundred years ago as a dangerously deluded idiot incapable of assessing reality.  Being cynical is the domain of those with accurate observational skills, Dr Wayne Dwyer and his cronies aren't writing about being cynical.  I swear to GOD Parker you are a massive closet homosexual.  You have got the whole white knight thing going on, now you are promoting gay new age concepts that encourage letting go of accurately assessing the world around you.  Next thing you know you will be telling us you are a vegan and have joined a chanting group that wears togas.  Cynical arseholes are easy to be around, it''s those deluded newage idiots forcing themselves to be a certain way with their faux happiness and their ridiculous worldview that are intolerable.

I know BigRo agreed with article but I'm Irish too and we're generally horribly cynical here. Yes I used two adverbs side by side. When the economy was great people bitched about how money destroyed us, how materialistic we'd become etc. When shit hit the fan and the economy collapsed people bitched about economy, how much hubris there was etc.

It's probably something to do with our colonial past and being a poor nation, always the victim.

On the plus side, getbig's cynicism is positive. It opens your eyes to the lies of the supplement industry, the reality of "professional" bodybuilding (read schmoe squatting to stand on a pro stage) etc.

Ahahaha, I don't know if you are massive troll or massively deluded.
White knight? Closeted? Man...

Wayne Dyer is a man respect.
But, let's go the definition of cynical

cyn·i·cal
ˈsinikəl/
adjective
adjective: cynical
1.
believing that people are motivated by self-interest; distrustful of human sincerity or integrity.
"her cynical attitude"
doubtful as to whether something will happen or whether it is worthwhile.
"most residents are cynical about efforts to clean mobsters out of their city"
synonyms:   skeptical, doubtful, distrustful, suspicious, disbelieving; More
antonyms:   idealistic
contemptuous; mocking.
"he gave a cynical laugh"
2.
concerned only with one's own interests and typically disregarding accepted or appropriate standards in order to achieve them.
"a cynical manipulation of public opinion"

You always take issue and go to extremes, you have a severe distrust of anybody who disagrees with you or doesn't have your viewpoint. And you argue obsessively that your view and only your view is correct.
If there are many paths to Rome, why is it that only your path is the quickest one?

And I agree, especially about the last part. Cynicism is not bad, because a good dose of it is needed.
One shouldn't look at everything with a naive Smurfette outlook, but to be real about things. Nor should we have a depressive, negative "it's a rainy day everyday" outlook either.

Countless trips to my psychiatrist told me don't assume because it's raining it'll be a bad day. Especially as it seems to rain here 364 days a year.

That said, every time it rains I wake up and say "fuck it". Pathetic fallacy.

I read article and while I'd say I'm a cynic I'm not close minded. Experience (and my profession - lawyer, background science) has taught me to start from a neutral position and ask questions. What is the agenda? Why is this idea/product/stance being promulgated? If the evidence seduces me I will change my stance and hold up my hands.

I have found if you think negatively, you'll be a negative person. Thoughts--->words--->actions--->reputation

Stay positive.

I'm kinda like that with all this snow on the ground...but, I remember when I was a kid, that I liked snow on the ground because I could go sledding, and it meant that I didn't have to go to school. Positives.
Now, as an adult, it represents negatives---the driving, slipping on ice, and the weather in general.

And your last part, I think the same way as well. Which does bother people sometimes.

O/T but we rarely get snow here. For two winters (09,10) we had snow. At first everyone loved it. Shithole houses in snow look "rustic" and it was fun. Shortly after the reality set in. Abandoning cars at the bottom of steep roads, cancelled plane flights and yes hilarious slipping.

Here's a video from the time, always makes me laugh:

Damn, that person took a serious "L" on the pavement...
Here in the US, businesses and people have been sued if they don't take care to remove the ice on the walks in front of their buildings.

That's at the side of the courts, as in highest courts in Ireland. I was working there at the time with a high court judge. It was like walking on marbles.

Aside, finished third bottle of wine on beer now. Not much posting left in me,

Wayne Dyer is a man respect.

See, now I know for certain you are a new age closet case homosexual.  Wayne Dwyer is a charlatan, if you had an ounce of cynicism you would see that.  This is the whole reason cynicism is needed more, not less.  People will be able to discern what is true and what is false.

Perfect, just what's needed to see reality in a world full of lies and propaganda.

Right back at ya buddy! And there are not always many paths to Rome, sometimes there is what is known as objective truth, you can decide to have an opinion that water isn't two parts hydrogen to one part water, it won't make a lick of difference and it certainly won't take you to Rome.  It just so happens that on Getbig my view is correct more often than not because I am surrounded by imbeciles, so it probably isn't fair to point out how often I am correct, it must be put into context.   ;D

i respect his viewpoints...that doesn't mean I am a closet homsexual. I do question his inability to have a successful marriage. You come up with the most extreme things, and then declare that you are more right than wrong...proudly declare. In your world, only your view counts, you must drive people away from you. You are surrounded by imbeciles, right...
Have you heard the saying, "a man is judged by the company he keeps", so if you are surrounded by imbeciles, what does that make you? Again, you purposely surround or come to a place where you think people who are imbeciles. Why would someone who believes that they are above them, do that?

I grew up in a cynical household, and I am a cynic as well. But, was also taught about having a balance look at things. In fact, I had to catch myself at times being too cynical. Balance, is probably the most hardest to achieve, because we have so many factors pulling us to one side or the other.

I didn't say all getbiggers were imbeciles, and it pays to know the enemy and how they think, or in this case don't think.  It's funny you keep harping on about how I declare my point of view to be the right one or the only one, I NEVER do any such thing, I simply ridicule and mock irrationality and illogical thinking.  I actually suspect it is you who gets upset by others not agreeing with your worldview and your repetitive accusations are easily explained by projection.

I do agree about Balance though, the hardest yet most important goal to be achieved.

If you are simply mocking the irrational and illogical thinking around you then this means you yourself must be in a superior, true and right way of looking at life which you are not according to my rational and logical thinking

Sorry, cynicism spilling over... Cliffs for this article?
