Is doing a light weight/high reps week a good idea??? I've tried everything in the bbing book..but i've never did a light weight week. i was thinking about 20-30 reps per set....do i stay as the same weight or go up in weight?? what do u guys think??
-
what do you mean go up in weight? you need to lower weight obviously
-
like going 21/2,5,10lbs for db curls. i usualy blast away at 75lbs
-
you curl 75 lb db's but you need to drop to 10s to do 20 reps?
-
NO, i could probably do 100 rep with 20's. i just stop at 20reps.. is going light weight for a week a waste?? or should i go back to the heavy stuff?
i didnt know how much to cut it...so i just went with what my body feel like..

Light weeks are a waste of time if you are going to really lighten the loads, in my opinion, based on my previos experience. If you do have a lighter week, maybe lessen the weights only a little and do those extra reps (4 to 6 extra), but going real light in weight and doing lots and lots of reps will not be what your muscles need to continue growing, in my opinion.
JUst me 2 cents, based on years of training. Good luck !!!
P.S. besides, personally, I never liked the feel of light weights for major sets. Only for warmups !!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

well, if that's what you meant, than no. not going all the way to failure on higher reps for a week might work a little, but just doing pussy workouts won't.

i've read alot of thread b4 about ppl using light weight for like a week... to give their body some shock to grow again.
i guess im wrong.. thanks guys

well yeah but that's a relative measure. i mean, instead of doing lame ass aerobics class workouts with much less weight than you can handle, why don't you do 20 reps with 50% of your 1-rep max or something, stopping a few reps short of failure? That's what i was saying.

It's called deloading. You can read about it over at Lyle's or Bryan's site.
Or ~ just drop back to about 80% for a week or two.
