I was just wandering what your guys's usuall intake of red meat is a week?
-
I have at least one round steak a day. And a few more when I diet.
-
Me, personally, absolutely zero. I get almost ALL my protein from chicken, egg whites, protein powder, and sometimes from fish. Every now and then i'll cook up some red meat, but not usually.
-
twice a week at most
-
I eat red meat in some fashion just about everyday
-
I find its a good source of protien just to much is bad of course haha.
-
Lots of flank steak!
-
I used to eat a bunch of ground meat because it was the cheapest form of protein..
I later found out something like more than 8oz a day can lead to colon cancer...
Try to diversify and don't do what I did.. buy chicken breast.. etc.

Any links to info on this?
-
Im not sure where but ive something like that before to, they say eat red meat in 8oz portions max 4 times a week.
-
what doesn't lead to cancer?
-
Its not just cancer to much red meat is bad for you all together.
-
3-4 times a week. Its a sub for chicken for when I absolutely cannot throw down a chicken breast.
-
I probably eat it about four times a week.
-
I eat about a pound of flank steak a week.
Everyone always says 'ewwww, flank is so tough'
Not at all. I just slap it on the grill - 7 mins/side - yummy Much tastier than tenderloin/filet
Confession: I put catsup on my steak. :P
-
isnt chicken red meat tho? pork is white meat right?
how high in fat is lean pork
-
at least once a day, but i am also not the healthiest person on this board!

As much as you can!

Stick with the leaner cuts like the sirloin and avoid the ribeye type that contains a lot of fat, and you will make the chickens happy
-
And I would say I eat Chicken most of the time, lean beef second, and fish third. Just dont care for fish that much. Usually red meat 2 or 3 times a week. There was a place in town that had all you could eat Angus sirloin on Mondays that was very good. I would eat about 32 ounces of it before they started giving me the eye.
-
I'll eat red meat every day(8 oz. portions).Sometimes i'll eat it more than once a day also.Reason however is that I find red meat (lean cuts only & any visible fat gets trimmed off) helps me in my training more than chicken breasts or tuna ever did.Feel much stronger when eating red meat while w/fish or chicken I really don't feel anything from them & find chicken too damn dry.Oh yeah,...I also hate all fish except for tuna & some shellfish.

Oh, I thought you were getting ready to confess that you put peanut butter on it. :)

FYI: Just include plenty of fiber in your diet. This prevents colon cancer. In addition to the fiber I get from oats, fruit and veggies, I drink a glass of V8 fruit juice with two tea spoons of pure Psyllium fiber powder, everyday.
-
never eat red meat...all egg, fish, chicken, whey, and casein.
-
Can't argue with Coltrane. I eat chicken at least two-three times per day, and red meat only about once per day.
BUT, when I cease to compete anymore, I will switch to a more plant based diet. Truth is, the scientific evidence of the protective effects of a plant-based diet are overwhelming, for disease prevention, treatment, and longevity.
But then again..who the hell on this board wants to live past 50 anyways right? ;D :o

True, but the scientific evidence of decreased testosterone and increased estrogen levels in men on a plant-based diet is also overwhelming. Who wants to be a 120 year old, femenine pencil neck? ;)

The problem is not red meat, its the kind of red meat. I eat grass fed beef every day. The regular corn fed meat has a shitty fatty acid profile. Grass fed is almost the same nutrition wise as salmon. I also eat a lot of fibrous veggies such as spinach, swiss chard, and broccoli rabe. I think the reason red meat got so much bad press was because of the shitty quality of it. Grass fed beef along with plenty of soluble fiber and I think its very beneficial to someone who weight trains. Confession: I put olive oil on my steak.
-
I eat 3 or 4 Black Angus Porterhouse, T-bone and Ribeye steaks per week, cooked to absolute perfection on my Solaire Infrared grill and washed down with two 12 ounce hand-crafted Ginger Ales. ;D
It makes me happy just thinking about it. lol
-
Eat as much lean red meat as you can. Great source of B vitamins and some natural creatine. I love chicken breast but they get old real fast. Colon cancer is largely heridiatary and probably correlates more with a low fiber diet. You can find studies that relate vegtables to impotence, eveybody that is impotent has ate some type of vegatble. Bottomline lean sources of complete proteins are what you want in your balanced diet.
-
I think that I will "Try" that 8) 8)
-
8oz of steak 1x a day.

I'm sorry bro, but that's DEAD WRONG! :o ::)
I'll be the first to say that nothing beats red meat for muscle growth, but don't go making such false remarks...who do you think you are, Muscletech? ;D One of the most recent studies done on Colon cancer was the Adventist health study, with a huge cohort of 32,051 subjects!!! :o They found that colon cancer is more like 20% heredity and 80% environmental :o It's not even close ::)
Now I'm going to go have a steak ;D

Red meat is a must to grow. When I started eating steak twice a day...I was so much stronger when I trained.

Im suprised you can even leave the toilet to type

That would happen only if you are not used to a high fiber diet. You are supposed to increase dietary fiber gradually, allowing your body to adapt. And you think I consume a lot of fiber? MidNiteRambo consumes 100g fiber a day.
-
I eat round eye or flank steak everyday, sometimes twice a day. Very good for building solid muscle.
As far as cancer is concerned, they say EVERYTHING CAUSES CANCER. I think a lot of cancer is caused from eating too many processed foods, not getting enough fiber intake, and lack of actual water. Most people problably haven't drunk actual water in years and drink soda, beer, and whiskey instead.
-
I think that too many Caliber Fitness supplements cause cancer.
-
eat Buffalo steaks, lots of them, you get the benfits of beef without the negatives

i have noticed this as well... the fat from the beef makes all the difference

That figure is accurate. My body adapted to that much and I have no problems with it. Plus, my blood sugar is completely in check. It strikes me that with a high protein diet, particularly red meat, high fiber is a must.

5lbs per week
