You lefties can feel free to link the awe inspiring speech but here's a synopsis of various opinion piece form the media...both left and right. FRom the vaunted Ace of Spades.....
Wow, the editorial and opinion pages today are not fans of President Obama's foreign policy plan, as outlined in his big speech to graduating West Point cadets yesterday. Even the most obtuse media writers have noticed that Obama's actions rarely live up to his words.
Here's the Washington Post editorial: "As he has so often in his political career, Mr. Obama has elected to respond to the critical consensus not by adjusting policy but rather by delivering a big speech."
Here's the New York Times': "The address did not match the hype, was largely uninspiring, lacked strategic sweep and is unlikely to quiet his detractors, on the right or the left."
Here's the Wall Street Journal: "Listening to Mr. Obama trying to assemble a coherent foreign policy agenda from the record of the past five years was like watching Tom Hanks trying to survive in "Cast Away": Whatever's left from the wreckage will have to do."
Opinion writers weren't more helpful. Here's John Bolton: "Not since Nixon has a president so relished uncovering middling alternatives between competing straw men."
Here's Elliot Abrams: "There were as many straw men as cadets."
Here's David Ignatius: "Unfortunately, the speech also showed that [Obama] hasn't digested some of the crucial lessons of his presidency."
and because I can't resist....response from the new LT's was tepid based on crowd reactions.

Do you know if there is any truth to a comment made by FOX News that those cadets were told not to applaud during Obama's speech?
-
Nobody official would ever ever ever give that guidance. I doubt these kids would even get together and say that's what they're going to do. Class is to big and diverse and they've worked to hard to then get hemmed up with this shit. If they didn't clap hard it was because they didn't like him. He's not popular with the masses or the military...never was.
-
That pos should never ever be allowed at west point. Ever!
-
Then how the fuck did he get elected?
TWICE.
Commander and Chief of WHAT?!
Oh yeah... All those people.
Very simple - he got elected by fng morons based on horseshit
-
That would make him popular with the masses then.
And? Big fucking deal. Most people want free shit abd are lazy slugs. No surprise

no. Obama does not belong at West Point. He doesn't belong in the WH, Annapolis, Colorado, Coast Guard, wherever. The only place he belongs is in prison, homeless, in a shelter w other vagrants, or all of the above.

This is not necessarily a good thing. 'The masses' voted in larger numbers for American Idol types shows than they do in most elections..is that a good thing? More people know more about the Kardashians than they know about their own government-does that mean anything good? 'The masses' are and have always been largely ignorant, simple minded, and easily manipulated.

The MSM is engaged in an evil conspiracy to prop up the Obama Administration through thick and thin, except when they aren't. When they aren't, everything they say is gospel -- right on headhunter!
The bottom line is that defense policy is formulated at higher levels of government; soldiers' opinions are by and large irrelevant. This seems advisable.
