Title: Regal vs Goldberg
Post by: littleguns on June 18, 2014, 06:10:33 AM
Stumbled across this.

Regal didn't want to be a 2 minute jobber to what he termed "Football reject Goldberg"

For some reason I cannot load the vid

You job when you're told to job.

Or find another job.

Jerry "Lightning Foot" Flynn supposedly did the same thing.

True, but it is/was also a wrestler's right to speak up about these matters. If bookers got to the point where they thought you didn't care how you're used, who knows what kind of stupid shit they'd have you doing!

Speak up backstage, absolutely.  But when the bell rings...

Of course, it all depends on the booker, the promoter, and the wrestler involved.

I wonder if anyone today would defy a booker (writer). It seems all individual creativity and thinking are gone for good.

Sadly, I concur.

I thought the match was decent - at least for Goldberg. I see no reason a squash match has got to mirror all of the others. If anything, I think it's good to show someone they're building like Goldberg beating another talent at his own game ala this match. It adds a bit of realism and spares the value of more substantial talent like Regal. Why lower his real estate value in the game when you don't have to?

I saw nothing wrong with this match.

I do.

Haven't thought about it in years!
