AC/DC confirmed widespread reports in April that the band's guitarist, Malcolm Young was stepping down due to an undisclosed illness, with some outlets reporting that he suffered a stroke.
The legendary Australian act stated that it will "continue to make music," and began recording sessions with producer Brendan O'Brien last month. In addition, the band was previously expected to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year by playing 40 shows in selected cities around the world, which have not yet been announced.

I saw them play in Melbourne about 2 years ago. Brian had the energy levels of a 20 year old. Unbelievable.
I also say them play in 1979 when they were a relatively unkown Aussie rockband. What a ride they have had.

RIP BON. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANOTHER LIKE YOU
Bon scott was the best...
-
From TnT , One of the best ACDC albums before they became to
commercialized.
hAil HaIl Rock 'n' Roll 8)
Bon scott was the best...
X2 Such a Natural, Brian is great but hard to follow in the foot steps of such a Rock and Roll Genius.
there big break through Album (Back in Black) with Brian you can still hear Bon , the lyrics and innuendo
just scream him.
-
Of course Bon is untouchable. He died before he even could reach his full potential. A god damn shame it is.
Still Brian was a very good choice! Tough job top to follow Bon's footsteps. Time has shown he is a true member of AC/DC.
Can you believe there are AC/DC fans that don't know who Bon Scott is? Fucking crazy shit that is.
-
I can't imagine the amount of phlegm that Brian Johnson has to cough out of his lungs before going on stage to perform. Guy smokes like a chimney. :-X

Dude, they did not become "commercialized" after TNT. What are you on about? Let There Be Rock was the rawest album they EVER recorded. They became a little more "glossed" over with Highway to Hell (1979), but EVERYTHING before that was mean, in your face and RAW.

I was in school when I heard ACDC for the first time in mid 70's. Dirty Deeds was the first song I remember hearing. Someone brought a cassette tape into the library and played the song 'Big Balls'. We all laughed.

going through my stages of youth...Punk Rock...later Rock.. i Headbanged often to AC/DC...when i had a great head of hair ;D
-
ACDC is a good rock band. However, I'm not a fan of bands playing forever until they are literally dying of old age.

I don't know man. I've seen most of the aging acts and I gotta say the "feeling" is still there, especially with AC/DC.
I know a gym is to my liking when I hear the opening to Thunderstruck as I walk in. (Sidenote)
One band not bringing much anymore in live performances is Soundgarden. Brutal going through the motions.

Funny you say that about Soundgarden. They are performing the entire 'Superunknown' album marking the 20th anniversary release....LIVE....tonig ht on Sirius satellite radio on Howard 101. 10 pm tonight. I think they're playing in New York.
I will definitely tune in to hear it. I caught Soundgardern opening up for Metallica on the Lalapolooza tour in 1996. They brought it that day. All of their members are close to or at 50 years old in age. Bands get older, they mellow out. Sucks but it happens.
-
His voice is razor blades... how is he going to sing?
The first LP with Brian was great though.
I was born with a stiff...
-
If they can do what they did at this show just 5 years ago....then I'm going to see them. This version of this song is slow and slinky and awesome.

Yeah man, saw em in Austin and the band seemed excited and sharp. CC just wasn't into it at all and further in the band followed suit. Maybe all the wasted time with Rage?

I like Soundgarden but for some reason I hate Superunknown. Black Hole Sun is one of my least favorite songs ever. I literally get angry when it comes on the radio. I don't know why it bothers me so much except that is is slow, weird, repetitive and it seems to go on forever.
Badmotorfinger kicks royal ass though.
-
I'm being a real negative nancy in this thread for some reason. A real debbie downer. Sorry.

These guys are terrific.

You're right on about bmf being a superior album and black hole sun is very over played.

Yes their first and best album. The album still holds up today in my mind. I agree about Black Hole Sun. I never liked the song but there are plenty other singles off Superunknown which I think are excellent.

You obviously didn't read what I said ?
"One of the best ACDC albums" before becoming to commercialized ,which basically is everything before Back in Black.
I never said TnT was the last.
Back in Black was there big one on the world stage ( and IMO There last great album) , after this they have the odd decent track here and there .
How could you even think they were "to commercialized" from my comment on any of there pre back and black days ???
Highway, Let there be rock and TnT are all pre this , Chuck dirty deeds and If you want blood into that lot to , two more good quality "RAW" rock and roll albums.

Heard the Kinks have gone to shit and argue on stage while looking depressed.

Prefer they focus on a new album instead.
Agree about Scott, perfectly filthy rock n roll god.
Superunknown is epic, but agree on Black Hole Sun, my least favorite track. And yes, they've lost the live spark, lost the voice.
For the rest: agree, disagree, disagree, yes, no, no f'n way, and huh?
-
I think he's in Fremantle cemetary. About 80 fuckers here have mentioned that. My standard response is "Who's Scott Bono?" They love it.
-
Legendary kickass mother/fucking band.......early stuff was just sensational when it came out.
