I have commitment issues...I like being on my own at times and have a introvert moment or whole weekend.
I have a problem with sharing space too and having things joined...etc. the last time I was in a relationship for about 18 mths in my late 20's, the girl moved in with me, I felt like my apartment was no longer mine, and neither was my time or my life. I can finish work tonight and decide to go home at 6pm or stay up in the cigar bar til 2am then go home...I don't have to let anyone know or get permission.
May be the above expectations are unrealistic but for now it is what it is. When I come across someone I like the two demons go into battle.

Perhaps if you reread the article, you'll understand what it says. Here is the answer to your specific question. You'll notice it does not include raising everyone's taxes. The idea is to get more people saving for their own retirement, which is what should be happening anyway and isn't for a variety of reasons which are spelled out in the article.
I have no idea whether this plan would work or not. I am not either advocating for or against it. What I do know is that the current systems in place aren't working out for a lot of people. Since it is unlikely we will just let seniors starve in the streets, something will have to give at some point.
I think the term "living wage" is subjective. What is considered a living wage for someone who is still working, is likely different than what someone needs to survive when they are retired. I am retired. Although I make more money then I did when I worked now, I don't spend as much as I did than. For me, this is a win/win situation.

Lean muscle mass/strength has always correlated with longevity and disease free life in the human model. As such, choosing just one, I think regular intense exercise is the best way to go. So in answering your question, its healthier to hit weights often than not to. Will you suffer arthritis, joint pain and injury for training like a retard (Branch Warren wunnabe), Yes. Can you train smart and avoid most of that and still build muscle? Yes. Can you live a life of wealth, extravagance and wild yacht sex like Skorpio? No. The other downsides to this BB lifestyle are the drugs and massive amounts food which both EASILY reduce lifespan (even mass amounts of healthy food). But in isolation, the training itself probably promotes a healthier, longer life. Ironically, the intake of medication (of virtually any kind except possibly metformin) slightly correlates with an increase in cancer and mortality. In simple terms, the less "shit" you put through your system, the better.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE:
To examine prospectively the association between muscular strength and mortality from all causes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer in men.
DESIGN:
Prospective cohort study.
SETTING:
Aerobics centre longitudinal study.
PARTICIPANTS:
8762 men aged 20-80.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:
All cause mortality up to 31 December 2003; muscular strength, quantified by combining one repetition maximal measures for leg and bench presses and further categorised as age specific thirds of the combined strength variable; and cardiorespiratory fitness assessed by a maximal exercise test on a treadmill.
RESULTS:
During an average follow-up of 18.9 years, 503 deaths occurred (145 cardiovascular disease, 199 cancer). Age adjusted death rates per 10,000 person years across incremental thirds of muscular strength were 38.9, 25.9, and 26.6 for all causes; 12.1, 7.6, and 6.6 for cardiovascular disease; and 6.1, 4.9, and 4.2 for cancer (all P<0.01 for linear trend). After adjusting for age, physical activity, smoking, alcohol intake, body mass index, baseline medical conditions, and family history of cardiovascular disease, hazard ratios across incremental thirds of muscular strength for all cause mortality were 1.0 (referent), 0.72 (95% confidence interval 0.58 to 0.90), and 0.77 (0.62 to 0.96); for death from cardiovascular disease were 1.0 (referent), 0.74 (0.50 to 1.10), and 0.71 (0.47 to 1.07); and for death from cancer were 1.0 (referent), 0.72 (0.51 to 1.00), and 0.68 (0.48 to 0.97). The pattern of the association between muscular strength and death from all causes and cancer persisted after further adjustment for cardiorespiratory fitness; however, the association between muscular strength and death from cardiovascular disease was attenuated after further adjustment for cardiorespiratory fitness.
CONCLUSION:
Muscular strength is inversely and independently associated with death from all causes and cancer in men, even after adjusting for cardiorespiratory fitness and other potential confounders.

It may be a usual thing for some people (with money) and it's all good. But it's not a "norm" so to say, and there's a danger that most females would develop high expectation from a get go. I've met a few who were very sweet (and thought that I'm rich. I understand completely that type of lifestyle you value. But some people can't afford it due to lack of hard work and sacrificing your time to build yourself up. Because there are guys in my gym your age and older who at times complain about having back problems and knee problems because they have to work 10 hours a day sometimes doing reconstruction in buildings or whatever, or just other simple feats. Complaining how it affects their training and don't have time to eat as much as they should to be motivated in the gym. And taking care of kids for some as well.
I go along with them like yeah yeah I understand it's rough sometimes, but at the back of my head I'm telling them that you had a choice long ago to do stuff differently and now you're stuck and you talk the same shit to me every time we see as if it's essential.
I'm 27 my self and still doing a manual laughbor job, and I don't like it, but I face the music. I was very spoon fed as a kid and never had a reason to push the envelop so this is the result, lazy. But luckily for me I'm not retarded at least so I can acknowledge that life is not all grey and purple, every day I wake up I have a choice to do stuff differently and it's my call, nobody elses. I'm also lucky to have no kids at the moment and I plan not making them any time soon neither because my life right now is 'meh', but I'm starting to look as far as the sky goes.
And I never hate on people who do big things. People who are successful are looked upon like diamonds, only looking for the minor errors in them, but they're still diamonds.

I used to go get morning coffee for brokers in the office, now I over see brokers themselves, it's taken 15yrs and I'm fairly young for my position but battered the same line of work for 14 years straight. It's still no walk in the park and at times we get knock backs but resilience and a strong head keeps you going. It's the nature of it unless you have back up (wealthy family) then its all you, and you have two choices, one involves a miserable life and the other means you get to live and enjoy it and feel like you are accomplishing something.

Only reason I can think of is that they doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that someone out "of them" turned out to be smarter and they hate seeing me with a better car, higher quality female, etc... I'd like to be wrong tho' as I've always valued these people more or less.
Have you noticed anything like that over the these years? (I'm 28 currently, so I'm basically just starting to get a real momentum).

It could be that they feel irrelevant next to you, not even jealousy, they just feel bad. Classic self pity right there. Maybe they're afraid you would 'erase' them out of your life, so they avoid you and eventually lose you all together in the process. Just my guess.
My friend tried 3 years to get his network sales company to work without succeeding. Now he told me if he doesn't make over 100k this year it will be a disappointment. For many times he tried to get me in it but I never believed it would work. He is still cool with me and we had a little party going on with him and his work partners, he invited me and we had fun. Catched up with some old times and whatever. Surprisingly I didn't have any self pity or feeling of being threatened by his new life, and he didn't look down on me for still being my old self, almost like nothing had changed.
And I don't wait for his call because he went out there and is doing bigger stuff, so good for him and I wish him nothing but success and prosperity.

It's annoying to me how most poor people are jelly towards more successful people. They are just people at the end. If people are legit and comited to their friends and being real nothing is lost. A friend is not a friend if it's jealous, a friend is happy for his or hers friends success.

I have commitment issues...I like being on my own at times and have a introvert moment or whole weekend.
I have a problem with sharing space too and having things joined...etc. the last time I was in a relationship for about 18 mths in my late 20's, the girl moved in with me, I felt like my apartment was no longer mine, and neither was my time or my life. I can finish work tonight and decide to go home at 6pm or stay up in the cigar bar til 2am then go home...I don't have to let anyone know or get permission.

A high quality automatic Swiss watch will last you the rest of your life with proper servicing.
Is 7k+ an acceptable price to spend on a watch simply because you will never have to buy another watch in your life if you don't want to? Absolutely not.
But, it is the combination of all three that make it a worthwhile purchase for some. I don't own a Rolex, yet, but I do have watches from comparable watchmakers though.

I have my late father's Bulova watch from the 1950's in a drawer someplace. It doesn't work. I should probably throw it out. I thought I'd have it repaired someday, but I never did.

One thing related. I've been noticing one strange trend in a process of getting more and more sucessfull - old friends (who aren't doing as well) start to dissapear. And not because of my fault, I've tried to keep in touch numerous times, but it seems like they start avoiding me. I've always thought it'd be vice versa, but now I see that people who are doing as well (or better) start paying attention to me and these who aren't - start to be distant. Only reason I can think of is that they doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that someone out "of them" turned out to be smarter and they hate seeing me with a better car, higher quality female, etc... I'd like to be wrong tho' as I've always valued these people more or less.
Have you noticed anything like that over the these years? (I'm 28 currently, so I'm basically just starting to get a real momentum).

I work in finance. I meet a lot of people. There are a lot of low six figure types wearing Rolex. After that IWC seems to be the most popular. The rich like jaeger or lesser know but large automatics. The billionaires I have met couldn't give a shit either way. For instance one guy I know who runs his family's family office looks like a hobo. They sold a business in the 80's for 300m. Personally I bought a cheap omega in 2006 but I only wear it to tell time during meetings. At weekend I use my phone.

If you make a conscious decision to be happy with less, having a financially successful friend will be fun. If you want to make bank, and fail, it's going to take a VERY mature individual to appreciate their friend's success without any bitterness.
When you want something, work your ass off for it, and fail...and have friends succeed where you just couldn't cut it...if you can be truly happy for their success, that's remarkable. This is exceedingly difficult to do. I've done it before, great learning experience.

I know a few wealthy people too, some are even related to me. Truthfully, I never noticed their watches, if they even wear them. Wearing a watch indicates that what time it is, is important to a person. Myself and many of my friends don't have to answer to anyone or account for our time. There are clocks everywhere if you need to be somewhere at a certain time, you don't need a watch to do this. My calendar is on my phone. If I have an appointment, my phone reminds me using a digital voice. People who actually have to work for someone else to make a living, probably have more need for a watch. Pretty much any watch will keep decent time. I wear a watch. It is the same one I've worn for years. I think I wear it out of habit mostly.
Men don't have as many options as do women when it comes to jewelry. I suspect wearing a Rolex is similar to a woman wearing a large diamond on her finger or an expensive tennis bracelet. It's a status symbol designed to let others know you have money....at least enough to be able to purchase expensive jewelry, although they might be buying it on credit, but no one has to know this.
For some of us, the need to impress just doesn't interest us. I don't care what strangers think, I don't need to impress anyone for business reasons and my friends could care less how expensive or cheap the watch I wear is. If the watch I wear ever quits, I'll probably buy another Seiko because Seiko has served me well over the years.

There was some justification for the original expensive purchase price because most folks end up paying as much if not more for personal transportation when they buy less expensive cars and replace them frequently. With this in mind, I am trying to keep my 2004 Mazda 6 running well for another 120,000 miles.
