Looking forward to seeing if Urijah Hall finally gives us a good fight.  So much hype coming out of TUF but his UFC fights have been lame as fuck.  I hope he brings it tonight.

Also kinda odd that Urijah Faber is fighting on the pre-lims card.  That's a head-scratcher to me.  He's so popular, I love watching him fight, not sure why he isn't on the main card.

Best fights of the day will be the free ones (One armed bandit) Nick Newell-Gaejthe on NBC and Caceres-Faber on prelims on FS1. Machida-Weidman will be a snoozer.

I will stream the PPV card, but I am not impressed with this card.

Hall vs Santos ~ Hall is boring as all hell and is scared to engage his opponents. He would do great in point fighting, but against skilled MMA fighters, it seems to me that the kid just doesn't have the fighting spirit come fight night. He does seem like a very nice young man though, extremely well mannered.

Struve vs Mitrione ~ Irrelevant on both counts.

Rousey vs Davis ~ I believe women do have a place in MMA. I also believe Dana needs to bring in cyborg to give the fans what they want to see. Would like to see a different finish, but I'm guessing Ronda via armbar anytime she wants.

Weidman vs Machida ~ Curious to see how this plays out, would like to see a full 5 rounds of action. On a side note, while both fighters were accordingly dry/depleted during weigh ins, I did think that Weidman came in a little too dry and showed signs of less muscle mass being carried as compared to other fights.

Look forward for links tonight!

Weidman will have to chase Machida and that can be dangerous. I will be interested to see if Weidman can/will take it to the ground.

My Picks
---------

Weidman (Decision) - after Lyoto runs away all fight.
Mitrione (TKO) after some brutal leg kicks and hard punching
Ronda Rousey (Armbar) (YAWN)
Uriah Hall (Submission)
Marcus Brimage (Decision)
Faber (submission) - too experienced for the young Bruce Leeroy

There the only fights I care about (Oh, maybe George Roop for the win also)

Lyoto is a runner and Weidman will charge in to Machidas fist.

Think the ref could have gave Roop a couple of seconds to recover. Was definitely a solid punch but he shook it off pretty quick and extended his arm out to defend himself on the ground.

lol @ checking a kick for the win.  Might be just as easy as knocking the fool out like he did to the so called best pound for pound fighter in the world.  Why can't people except Weidman beat Silva TWICE?

Lyoto has never been the same since Jones chocked him out like he was a child and then dropped him like a ragdoll.

I was just fucking with you, but Lyoto is on the backend of his career, he is heading down and not up, Weidman will only reinforce this fact.  Same thing happens to a lot of fighters, people sing their praises a little to long, refusing to accept the fighter is no longer what he once was.

Lyoto is far from his peak, this is the problem most punters make, they fail to see when the fighter hit the turning point and stopped going up and started going down.  Jon Jones was that point for Lyoto, Jones literally bullied him out of the division when Lyoto realised he was never going to be able to beat someone like Jones.

I got to say the ufc really sucks now I hate to say it but it does. My friends use to get so pumped for cards we use to watch all the interviews and workouts. I don't even know anyone anymore that really cares. Superstars are all fading away with no replacements only like 1-2 good fights on a card if you were lucky. I remember a couple years ago and when the paperview started and they showed the fighters giving their 5-10 second interview in the black and grey I would get chills and be soon pumped. Bums me out.

Now we got drug testing ruining things even more sucks ass.

I don't know who is buying into this womens MMA shit but I wish they would BAN women from fighting full stop.  It's like womens bodybuilding, it's unnatural and only attracts dysfunctional women.  Nobody wants to see bloodied womens faces with broken jaws and noses.

I agree, not about the drug testing thing, but just the UFC being pretty lame these days.  I love ultimate fighting and always have but the fucking cards lately have been sooooooooo fucking boring!!  Who the fuck pays 40 bucks for this crap?  I watch them for free and it barely keeps my attention.  Lucky to have one decent, interesting fight per card.  Just watched the first fight from the main card of 175 and it was another fucking snooze fest.  I hope this card doesn't suck, but it's off to a lame start.

Womens MMA sucks.  Ronda is the only one who has a fighter's mentality.  What I have noticed with the majority of MMA women fighters (Cyborg and ROnda are the exception) is they don't take it seriously, they think it's all about having fun and that winning doesn't matter.  Women  ::)

Unless they bring in Cyborg, the UFC will continue to have these types of fights with Rousey.

Even if they bring in Carano, that will be yet another easy win for Rousey.

I hope Machida vs Weidman goes for the full 5 rounds and is a true battle.

Did someone forget to tell Lyoto this is a fight, he is doing so much running maybe he thinks this is a 400 metre Olympics tryout.

Lyoto looking old now.  I think Weidman hit him so hard this round (RD 3) he dropped ten IQ points.  Hard for Weidman to lose now (barring a freak KO or submission) after winning the first three rounds.

I haven't seen an Asian guy run this much since Musclecenter was asked to submit a drug test at the Mr. Taiwan Natural Bodybuilding contest.

About fucking time we get a 5-round war. I give it to Chris.

Chris gets rounds 1, 2 and 3.

Machida 4 and possibly 5.

I think that is the first time I have ever seen Lyoto DECIDE to actually fight instead of this stick and move style.  Sadly, it won't be enough.

After seeing Lyoto's face suddenly I have a craving for hamburger.  :o

I think this is also the first time during a UFC fight a fighter qualified for a running event at the next Olympics.  ;D

Needs to rethink it...
Dominated Machida...

Yeah Yeah. Weidman had to lay on Machida to win. Saved by the bell in the 4th and 5th.

Weidman's last 2 fights were gifts along with championship belt. He's going to have to fight this time. Machida win by KO.

Machida has been knocking fools out left and right. Not sure how people complain about him. He used to be a karate point fighter part of the style to avoid big shots.

Lyoto is a runner and Weidman will charge in to Machidas fist.

Are you kidding, Lyoto is a runner, this will be his easiest fight yet.

Yeah Yeah. Weidman had to lay on Machida to win. Saved by the bell in the 4th and 5th.

I think it was a fair win.

Weidman had rounds 1-3 for sure.

Machida came alive during the 4th and 5th and brought work to Weidman.

What I liked about this fight:

~Full 5 rounds

~No premature knockout

~No freak accidents

~Both guys trading

~No one gave up

~Both guys had good stamina

Machida could very well become the gatekeeper at middleweight, kind of like the guy that others must pass in order to get a title shot (the Junior Dos Santos of Middleweight).

Now, I look forward to Weidman versus Vitor, Jacare, Yoel Romero and Rockhold. Once he gets through these 4 other guys, the rest of the middleweights are just sparring partners.

Too little too late. By the time weidman started feeling the effects of the weight and slowed down Lyoto started turning it up and controlling the pace. Lyoto had trouble getting his timing down to intercept chris in the earlier rounds.

Look like the makings of a future gameplan is emerging. Drag chris into deep waters.

I think Chris should stay where he is.

Jon Jones would murder the kid. Jones is taller, faster, stronger and has way better movement, striking arsenal and a barrage of eye gouging techniques.

Weidman had a war with machida, whereas Jones made quick work of Machida and was the first to put him to sleep.

OneMoreRep, I'm just having fun.

Congrats to Weidman, he proved himself tonight. He noticeably slowed after the 3rd but pulled out the win.

Loyoto gave a great challenge, that made for fight that will be remembered. He had a slow start due to pressure from Weidman and trouble defending the takedowns or he may have won.

Glad I stayed up to watch the main event.

I think a Weidman vs Vitor fight could be exciting, but without the TRT, Vitor might be a shadow of his former self.

Jacare would be nice against Weidman due to his amazing JiuJitsu, but Jacare's striking needs a lot of work.

The fight I would really like to see is Weidman versus Yoel Romero. Romero is stronger than Weidman and is a way better wrestler with decent striking ability.

yes i agree that vitor vs weidman woulda been more exciting, vitor starts off like a jet than fades, machida starts off slow than comes on in later rds. weidman will be champ along time, hes a true freak when it comes to learning new stuff n the kids got heart n a rock chin, all the tools of a champion

If Weidman can weather the storm for the first 2 rounds or so, he would be able to then pick apart Vitor in the later rounds. If Weidman tries to trade with Vitor during those first two rounds, he could be in trouble.

Again, this all depends on what Vitor we see. TRT Vitor with the mohawk and crazy, fanatical Jesus freak comes in and we will have a serious battle. If it's post-TRT Vitor, then it could very well end early.

At the present moment, I think the fighter with the most potential is Daniel Cormier. That man is fast, strong and extremely well versed on the ground , as well as on his feet.
