the judging panels need to be rotated, same judges, same results.

I'm his friend too and I'm not Mr Olympia. Politics do play a factor in bodybuilding because its a subjective event...not a physical competition. These are male beauty pageants so if you have outside issues like stripping, doing sexual activities for money then you're screwed.

End o thread on fist reply.
WoooSSSHHHHHHHHHH BE YE KE

Old news
-
The only reason Philnsulinhead wins is because all the other competitors look even shittier than he does.
-
but Cheateth looked like a tiny tit sandwiched between Kai and Dennis

I can't be the only one laughing at this point?
-
Pro bodybuilding is a minor sport. Everybody knows everybody. Its a very small world in the IFBB.
-
I can't be the only one laughing at this point?
no
-
I can't be the only one laughing at this point?
No, I fucking laughed hard, too. :D :D

Exactly!
The sport is pretty small and rather close knit and insular at the pro level.
Kicking out every judge who has some form personal interaction off stage , would be like banning boob jobs in the bikini division.
It's a fun hobby and fitness lifestyle...no more , no less.
-
No no conflict of interest at all. Thong battles are serious business.
Surely the great Lea Thompson is 100 percent objective like a muscle scanning robot as soon as he sits in the head judge seat.
I trust these guys.
::)
-
I can't be the only one laughing at this point?
You definitely are not
-
TOTAL B.S. and the reason I will NOT be watching the MR. Olympia anymore...fuck the IFBB!!!!!

Getbiggers showing restraint then :p

phil is a four time Olympia winner......politics has very little to do with it......imho.

Hi Lee Thomson :)
-
phil heath and jay cutler 4xmr o's = shitty generation of bbers
-
Yes, the Phil Heath Classic is in Texas, as well as many others shows, including the Ronnie Coleman Classic. Friends? I should hope so.
Does it affect his win (he competes once a year at the Olympia and wins). No it does not. It was a close battles between Phil and Kai.
I will tell you a secret. Lee Thompson is friends with many people! Gasp!
-
I don't understand why everyone is complaining and calling Phil a cheater? Because he was a few inches forward on a comparison LOL?
These fellas all use varied drug stacks to give themselves a physical edge....cheating is inherent in the "sport".

MOS, the difference is this:
They are ALL using drugs.
But only ONE person is stepping over the line (Phil).

Ron, I respect you as a person, but this is bullshit. There's a difference between just a friend and a business partner.
Sorry chief, no pun intended.
-
It's a fun hobby and fitness lifestyle...no more , no less.
It's a heck of a lot less than a fitness lifestyle.
It's more anti-fitness than fitness.

Sorry, but your opinion matters little. You NEVER EVER say anything bad about the IFBB. You are always sticking up for them. So its hard to take your opinion seriously on these matters.
-
You mean there is politics in bodybuilding, shit who knew.
-
Ron, I respect you as a person, but this is bullshit. There's a difference between just a friend and a business partner.
Sorry chief, no pun intended.
You can put your name on a contest if you work on a show, etc. Ronnie Coleman Classic, Adela Garcia Classic, Felicia Romero Classic, Dennis James Classic and so many more...
You honestly think that because Phil Heath has a show in Texas, it is helping him get an Olympia win. Really.
So when Gifted Nutrition starts selling in various shows, all of us are business partners with Phil...
At this stage of the contest, between Kai and Phil, it matters on which physique you liked better. I was there. I am a big fan of Kai, big advocate of him, and Phil's back rivaled Kai, and even exceeded it. The back is what wins the show here when the fronts both look good.
Sorry, but your opinion matters little. You NEVER EVER say anything bad about the IFBB. You are always sticking up for them. So its hard to take your opinion seriously on these matters.
And some of you always belittle and ridicule the IFBB. Sad to see it, but some people are so negative, anything good, they make it terrible. Everything that remotely goes a different way, it is all politics. Aka this thread. Since Phil Heath is a business partner with Lee Thompson (aka, has a show in Texas), Phil was favored to win the Olympia. Come on...
I rarely say anything bad about many things, because I choose to try to see the good in things over being negative every day. In any organization, you can find something not good on it. I can give you quite a few about the NFL, the NBA and so many others. Very easy to do.
But here is the IFBB pushing hard for international contests, aka South Korea, South Africa, Dubai, and many more coming up. That is cool.
Hey, I am friends with Flex Lewis, and he is a BSN athlete, and he won the Olympia 212lb. I carry BSN. Perhaps we Favorited him to win the show too.

Yes, even with a gut like this. Oh brotha. ::) ::)

I hear you, but all I'm saying is cheating is basically encouraged....even though it's not LOL.

Do I really think that stepping over the line made a difference? Eh, not really.
I think it bugs people because narrow Phil presents as a douche and this is just another instance of him displaying douchebag behavior. On top of that, stepping into Kai's space.

I want to see Phil The Gut Heath doing FDB vacuum.

Again, I hear ya and I agree LOL.

You clearly no nothing about bodybuilding. This is not even due to exhaling. This is a distended gut due to either lack of diet or drug abuse. You can even see the sides of his stomach spilling over. Plus, his abs are completely non existent when he was hitting a front double bicep.
-
Phil's wins have nothing to do with being connected or close friends and partner with Lea Thompson. Pure coincidence!
::)

Yes, taking pics of bodybuilders without actually training, how much can you know? Personal experience goes a long way. This is why many sport announcers are past players.
If he thinks that guy is purely from "exhaling" then he clearly knows nothing about bodybuilding.

I must be a bodybuilder, who knows nothing about it either. Carry on with your great enlightenments on my sport.

You actually engage in the sport, as opposed to just taking pics.
Second, Ron's assertion that there is no politics is laughable. Either he doesn't know anything about the sport or he never wants to go against the IFBB. Either way, its hard to take his opinions serious on matters.
Third, me being enlightened about bodybuilding is not my life goal. Maybe its yours. Ill pass on attempting to achieve a high level of enlightenment regarding men in underwear on stage lol.

This x 2.
The only problem with this reality is that the judges are never going to be 100% objective.
It would help if and only if the judges were not involved with any other aspects of bodybuilding or fitness ( * near impossible now)
I was one of the last NPC judges that had a job/career 100% outside of the fitness industry. I was a dinosaur and went extinct.

1 things for certain, you sure do love your men on stage in underwear lol. Also, anyone who's ever been to a pro show knows we all can easily have moments where we appear to have guts due to exhaustion and exhaling.

That is true - I know nothing about bodybuilding. Probably been to 300 shows or so, but alas, never competed, so I can't tell a guy from someone who lets it out. Anyone can take any type of pics if you want them to look good or bad, but actually going to a contest, you can see the whole picture. I guess I need to compete to evaluate someone, since in order to check out someone's muscle, I need to have one too.
I never said there were no politics. There are always politics in everything, in any sports, heck, even in unions at jobs. I just find it funny saying Heath won because they are friends with Lee.

Personal experience goes a very long way.
Clearly, Phil was off and not at his best showing. This was even said on numerous other bodybuilding forums and people into the sport. They even said his stomach was bad this year around. Yet, you refuse to acknowledge that.
I am sure politics played a deal in Phil winning.

Politics may have played a deal in Phil winning , so did the fact that Kai looked like shit during the prejudging too. Coincidence? I think not.
I started a thread right after the Olympia saying Kai Blew It , why did he blow it? because Phil was off from what he usually is , It was the perfect time for Kai to come in 100% and steal away the title like Dexter did to Jay , Kai came in oversized and soft and blew probably his best chance to beat Phil.
Don't blame the judges because Kai dropped the ball.

So, what youre basically saying is that everyone on stage was a shitty bodybuilder, Phil was just the least shittiest bodybuilder out of everyone?
Personally, I would have been happy if Dexter or Rhoden won.

Yeah everyone was off , Wolf was in great condition but he was flat and smaller than usual. Phil was off from his usual form however he wasn't competing against the previous year version of himself just Kai , Wolf and Rhoden , who were all ' off ' as well.
You think there's a conspiracy because you prefer someone else and can't stand Heath , you make a horrible judge because you can't be impartial and separate your own personal feelings from the task at hand.
Is Phil a whiny , egotistical narcissist douche-bag? Maybe but according to the IFBB judging criteria he was the best guy on that stage that night. The meat & potatoes of a contest is the prejudging. 99% of the time the contest is won here. Kai looked much better at the evening show but it was to late. Damage was done.
Kai was gifted ( no pun ) a perfect opportunity to finally beat Heath , Phil was off but Kai dropped the ball decided to come in ' huge & hard ' according to Farah that was the game plan , well he got the huge part right but he wasn't hard. Kai is like Levrone , you get two versions , smaller/better conditioned or bigger/softer. He can't find the right balance.
Kai blew it , he listened to Farah when he should learn his own body.

Well, even if this wasn't a "conspiracy" there is more than enough bad placings in the IFBB history to confirm that politics, at times, heavily decides things.
-
I'm his friend too
Post a pic of you and your friend together.
-
Ron has never caved in/bent to pressure applied to censor threads/overly moderate this forum (this THE only forum were you can say what you want/good,bad or ugly) and I dare say a great number of "pro's" peruse this site on a regular basis...The whole "Craig Titus/Kelly Ryan" saga was playing out pretty much "live" here (with Matt Cline giving us the play by play) just go to another site and anything said negative about professional bodybuilding/boybuilders is deleted)kudos to Ron!
-

It is a fine balance between it all. Now, since I enjoy the NPC/IFBB, and like it or not, they are the best organizations for bodybuilding and other divisions. I have heard many leave, and then (a year later or so), wished they did not. The grass is always greener on the other side.
Re: Lee, he was not judging on the Mens Bodybuilding Open contest, Womens Figure or Mens Physique at the Olympia.
-
Well, even if this wasn't a "conspiracy" there is more than enough bad placings in the IFBB history to confirm that politics, at times, heavily decides things.
They were bad placings according to you , which proves you're biased and ignorant on how contests are judged. I do feel judges personal feelings can sometimes get in the way it's only human nature but the contests aren't the travesties the guys are crying
No one is ever happy about who wins , it's been like that since day one. I was bitching & moaning back in 1993 how Flex Wheeler was screwed over and how the judges are blind and Flex was robbed etc until I learned how contests were judged and then I could see for myself how 1993 wasn't even close but I preferred the way Flex looked over Dorian and based my opinion on that.
People scream Wolf should have won , Ramy , Kai , Rhoden , Dex , everyone has their preference/.
-
If you're Lee Thompson, why not just step aside and not be a judge at the Olympia so that the conflict of interests doesn't exist? It's obvious there is a conflict of interest regardless of the results...
-
You can put your name on a contest if you work on a show, etc. Ronnie Coleman Classic, Adela Garcia Classic, Felicia Romero Classic, Dennis James Classic and so many more...
You honestly think that because Phil Heath has a show in Texas, it is helping him get an Olympia win. Really.
A good relationship is vital when you organize an event, so yes, it can(!) help Phil.
So when Gifted Nutrition starts selling in various shows, all of us are business partners with Phil...
Apples-oranges... I would rather use the term 'clients', and a client has no financial or personal interest in Phil's placing.
At this stage of the contest, between Kai and Phil, it matters on which physique you liked better. I was there. I am a big fan of Kai, big advocate of him, and Phil's back rivaled Kai, and even exceeded it. The back is what wins the show here when the fronts both look good.
This should be the way of judging them, but is this the reality? I don't believe so, and not just in this particular Phil v.s. Kai case.
And some of you always belittle and ridicule the IFBB. Sad to see it, but some people are so negative, anything good, they make it terrible. Everything that remotely goes a different way, it is all politics. Aka this thread. I try not to be negative about the IFBB or in general all the time, but I won't look the other way when I get multiple signals about the underlying mechanisms. Like I wrote in a thread, started by Howard:
That's a good read Howard, but what I'm missing here is the concept of conflicts of interest. Too often I see coaches/trainers, sponsors, gym owners, etc as judges. In fact, I can't remember a show where this wasn't the case.
True, every organization has its flaws, but I can't hardly call those conflict of interests 'flaws' or 'incidents'.
Hey, I am friends with Flex Lewis, and he is a BSN athlete, and he won the Olympia 212lb. I carry BSN. Perhaps we Favorited him to win the show too.
Ron started a joke :D
-
It would be like Jim Lorimer & Arnold promoting the Arnold Classic together and then Jim turning around and judging Arnold in the Olympia. It doesn't look good.
-

Bullshit. When there is a huge consensus over misplacings, it becomes obvious. Its not rocket science, genius.
-
The only reason Philnsulinhead wins is because all the other competitors look even shittier than he does.
this^
-

Once again, he did not judge the Mr. Olympia.
-
I guess you have to take it for what it is and just stop caring what they award. Ever since Branch got second it's quite obvious something is off but hey, it's free to watch.
But where's getbigs gossip board without a little discussion and stabs, yeah?
