Title: Is this a good lift
Post by: shiftedShapes on February 21, 2006, 06:44:17 PM
Hey d00ds I think I finally did a lift that is impressive!!!

3.5 chinups with 50% of my bodyweight hanging from a dip belt.  I weigh 150

Aside from my chinning I'm not much of a lifter.  I can dead 345 for a single.  My pressing is pathetic, I can dip for 5 reps with 65 on the dip belt.  I can do about 16 HSPUs

I have a pretty lanky build so I will probably never put up numbers good enough to make you d00ds say woah, so tear me up and maybe it will provide me with some motivation to keep improving.

i think you need to stuff yourself with all the food you can find! But your lifts are pretty good for your size. how old are you?

why not? with all that food he would have more energy.. so if he keeps pushing he could still get very respectfull numbers.

I'm 27, been lifting hard for about 3 years and I'm 5'9"

I recently lost about 25 pounds.  I think it was almost all fat because my strength has stayed constant or increased for most lifts.  I guess I just stopped eating like a bodybuilder when I started working a tough job.  Now I just eat 3 normal meals a day.

I know you guys are right though, if I want to gain serious strength I will probably have to bulk again.  If my lifts plateau I will probably start forcing the food down.

For now I'm going to try to keep my bodyweight low so I can master a freestanding hand stand push up, and a planche push-up.  Then when I have them down I can start bulking for added resistance.

thanks for the encouragement guys.

what is your goal ?

good question

I'm probably not as focused as I should be so I have a few goals:

-full range of motion freestanding handstand push-up
-planche push-up
-deadlift 400
-dip bodyweight plus 100
-chin bodyweught plus 100

Those are the main lifts that I'm gunning for.  As far as body composition I would like to maintain my bodyfat and add lean mass, or at least density.

a 345 dead at 150lb is really good.
