Pound-for-pound :
1st place: Professional Rock Climbers ;)
-
I would vote for Oly lifters, there are some brutally strong pound for pound powerlifters as well, guys like Richard hawthorn deadlifting over 600lbs and squatting over 550lbs at around 130lbs comes to mind
-
I would personally like them to bring back the "Clean and Press" to the Olympic lifts.
I think that the clean and press is the most accurate measure of a how strong someone is.

Goodluck with the judging since the majority if not all end up pushpressing. That, and it injured many athletes, doubt you'd find any now that would be willing to do that.

I believe the big three combined aka a powerlifting total to be one of the best tests of strength. Some can be and are very good at one lift or another due to leverages and build but if you have a high raw total and excel at all three lifts there's no doubt that you're one strong sob

There are Olympic lifters that can outrun world class sprinters in the first 25 meters of the 100 meter, that's how explosive these guys are.

Raw powerlifting, raw raw powerlifting, raw raw raw raw powerlifting??
Please define.

I personally consider raw to be a belt and knee sleeves, if you gave a dozen athletes those implements and had them see who could get the highest total under strict judging 9/10 times you would end up with the strongest athlete I feel.

Belt ad like 20 pound in squat, kneesleeves ad like 10 pound!
Raw should be raw, no condome no pullout!
-
not in particular order, but wrestlers, gymnasts and weight lifters a.k.a snatch/press people are imo the strongest
-
forgott to mention one thing, thread starter is stupid!
There is no such thing, who is the strongest....u need guidline, restrictions, class bla bla bla....stupid people cant think! And all answers is stupid to!
Just put all weightlifters, powerlifters in a list how much they weigh and lift. There u have it....
Then list every high jumper
Then list every sprinter
Then list every gymnast
Then list every Pole vaulter
Then list every madda fakking athlete in every fucking explosive strenght sport...yeah! Stupid thread for stupid people!
Like asking, whats the best fruit? Whats the best car? Whats the best titties....there is no such thing as BEST if u dont have strict guidlines
-
Olympic lifters should be on top.
-
Weightlifters and powerifters are the strongest pd for pd
-
Pound for pound it's Olympic weightlifters by a mile.
When bodyweight is the issue at hand here you could take a elite sprinter, gymnast, high jumper or any athlete from a sport which requires explosive power and who all weigh the same (let's say 180lbs for sake of argument) and have them lift weights from a static position one rep max, like squat, deadlift, bench, etc, and the Olympic weightlifter would win every single time.
-
them dudes from Iceland....
-
Olympic weightlifters without a shadow of a doubt in my mind!
-
GB'rs of course!
