Title: Northeast Getbiggers: Ready for a Blizzard?
Post by: Thin Lizzy on January 26, 2015, 05:01:15 AM
In NYC, we're looking at about 18" of snow; Boston, 24".

I'm not bummed about missing a few days of work.

Yup. 2-3 feet is the call around here. Propane tank is full for the standby gennie and stocks are laid in. Plenty of food for human and animal. I am sure that by the time my son gets home, the school system will have called tomorrow off so it's gonna be a weekend evening around here.

If the wind really starts to go bananas, my son and I will venture out to experience mother nature at her finest.

It's already snowing here. After my run, I went to the supermarket where I get chicken and greens. It's usually empty at that time, 7:30am. Today, the place was packed.

Good luck.

I'm making plans now to head to Dairy Queen today for their best" Blizzard ".
I prefer the oreo cookie and vanilla ice cream mix myself.
I just love how they flip it upside down with the spoon in it.

Spent half a day installing heating coils to (hopefully) avoid ice dams.

I do not like to live where the scum of the earth congregate. I'll take my chances with nature over a pack of angry Hebrews, thanks.

18-24 and blizzard warning in new jersey...

It's coming up the east coast. So, if it stays east, we might get spared super heavy accumulations, but Boston and Eastern Long Island are definitely gonna get slammed.

Glad I moved from Philly to S. FL. 30 some years ago... Only experienced one real Hurricane in all those years.

Wait... so the supermodel orgy will be on a 2 inch by 3.5 inch Walmart smart phone screen using their slow-ass data plan?

Well, my significant other lives about 2 miles away. Public transportation will be shut down and no cabs will be on the road. So if I want companionship, I'm gonna have to walk two miles in a blizzard. That's not happening. Maybe 20 years ago.

So, once again you're spot on, except that I have Verizon FIOS. It's effin' fast.

In NYC, it was a bust, not even 6"on the ground.

This is right outside my building 6:00am. Doesn't look like 2 feet to me. Lol.

Still coming down furiously in the greater Boston area. I have a foot and maybe another on the way. 2' would be on the low-end of the estimates, tho.

Grew up in Portsmouth NH and now live in North Ga.
We had snow chaos last yr but will most likely dodge the snow bullet this year.

Stay safe and warm, and don't leave the house is my advice.

Portsmouth is my wife and my favorite town. We prefer to go their over Boston. Love the restaurants and cozy hotels.

Total bust in NYC.

We maybe, at most, have 6-8 inches.

Only thing sorta fun in Ny from this blizzard was the short travel ban. It was fun walking around without the cars, and commuters.

You should make him walk to school. And say to him, "When I was your age, I walked 300 miles one way to school."

Just call up a few getbigges to shovel your house. Pay them $5.00 an hour. Most could use the money.

Then invite them in your house for coffee and a pastry and introduce them to the misses.
