What a joke. This was his show and dex just looked like ole dex.........
The lame
1st Place: Dexter Jackson
2nd Place: Branch Warren
3rd place: Victor Martinez
4th place: Gustavo Badell
5th place: Melvin Anthony
6th place: Lee Priest
-
hmm props for melvin though
-
Gustavo looked better than vic! other than that i think its pretty fair
-
gustavo looked better than all of them...and branch looked better than dex
-
funny bout ole vic, considering how fat he seemed from his weekout pics, and he comes in to get 3rd at the ASC. Not a bad pay day for him, with what seemed like not much effort.
-
That should let some of the air out of Gustavos head.
-
Wonder if Milos will give us the lowdown on why his boy Gustovo didnt do so hot at the arnold. 4th is a joke when considering all the smack he was talkin.
-
i actually fully agree with the top 5. mustafa should have been 6th though.
-
That should let some of the air out of Gustavos head.
yes..being screwed out of 1st place and being demoted to not even top 3 would "let some air our of his head"
-
well good he took the year off
if he didnt win he'd be chopped liver
maybe he'll be 9 in a row arnold winner
-
Dex looked good...but if I was a judge, Branch would have won.....

Victor - should have been 6th if not out of the running.
Melvin - should have been 3rd
Lee - 4th
Gustavo - 5th

That sucks for Branch....I thought he was impressive and IMO better than Dex. Oh well, 60 grand aint bad.
Better structure, especially from the rear. ::)
-
Branch was awesome, no doubt about it - thick as a tree and ripped up; one of my favourites. But to be honest, he prolly lost becuase of his posing routine - it just lacked flow and energy. he doesnt have to be popping and locking, but he does need to step it up - same thing was wrong with Dillett (also an all-time fav)
-
Dexter was in great condition with very sharp, clean lines . Branch clearly had more muscle mass and and incredible , thick legs and calfs , thus he deserved the most muscular.
Pose for pose and standing beside eachother it is also clear that DEX had the better overall PHYSIQUE.
I was not at the show and like many others just looked at all the pics at FLEX on line.
I am impressed with ow Branch keeps on getting better each show out. I have become a fan of him now due to his hardcore attitude and never say die contest prep. With his wins last fall season and this close 2nd with the MM award he will be a top guy for manny years at the O at only 31.

bingo

Victor - should have been 6th if not out of the running.
Melvin - should have been 3rd
Lee - 4th
Gustavo - 5th
These are pretty close to being right on . . . Had Lee in Ironman shape ( hard to do ) then he would have been 2nd and a first might not have been out of the question

I don't think it's necessarily a problem that Branch got 2nd here. For one thing, it qualifies him for the O. For another, several pros have said they prefer the Arnold to the O right now, & that alone gives this show a lot of prestige. It's true that some of the biggest guns didn't show up, but the competition was tough here, with some of the best pros in the world competing, & Branch beat all but one of them. He has learned from every show he's done, picked his shots carefully, & comes back better each time. His best years are still ahead of him.
-
This thread is a joke. You guys have Cutleritis. The back is fifty percent of the show. Take a look and see why Dex owned Branch. Hell, Vic and Gus would have too if they would have been in top shape.
-
Exactly ! Branch own everybody from the front and side chest but he get kills from the back.
With a better back he would have won
-
IMO ... I think Branch would of won however Dex has a better mid section and back, however if he just works on his abdomin area and his back he pretty much has the full package.

his 8th place at last year's olympia qualifies him for this year's olympia

http://www.ifbb.com/ifbbpro/rules.htm
See article 9, section 9.1 of the IFBB pro rules (I'd copy it here but it's on PDF file)
These are the current qualifications for the O:
1) top 6 from previous year's O
2) top 6 from same year's Arnold
3) top 5 from same year's NY Men's Pro
4) top 3 from any grand prix or other IFBB pro show for men
-
Branch Warren also lacks fullness to his arms, specially in his forearms...but that is genetical. I think that lack of fullness in his arms takes away from his upper body appearance.
-
i don't disagree with any of you about the way branch looked. he looked great. his personal best. true he did look bigger then dex in some of the poses. that being said, dex has "it". just like wheeler, ray, and levrone did in their primes. dex has better genetics then branch. he just looks better/more pleasing to the eye. i think branch has a good future ahead of him . 2nd place in the arnold classic in an accomplishment in itself.
