Title: Homebrew Weight Tree
Post by: Bix on March 18, 2006, 09:32:39 AM
What do ya all think of my home made weight tree ? I whipped this up in no time with scrap pipe and unistrut that I had lying around . Could this be the start of a no frills home gym equipment company ?

I'd suggest you spend a little time washing those walls. You're just begging for mold.

Not bad, if real. Make sure it's steady.

Only if you have the actual assembly work done in a 3rd-world country by peons you pay $2/day, then get yourself a distribution contract with Wal Mart.  ;D

Sounds like you might need a website for this business venture!

If real ? You'd have a very hard time pushing it over with the wide feet .

From the looks of your work and price you'd be the man .

My next project may be an incline bench. This equipment would be modeled after the old Jubinville Exercise Equipment products, no frills and basic black paint job.

Why do people put their gyms in basements? If my shit was in a basement, I'd never work out.

Speak on this.

No, the "wiping" hand is reserved for "masturbation".

It...
Is...
My...
Destiny.

That's nice work - but a business - no.  If it's welded into one piece, shipping would kill you.  That's why all the ones you see today are multiple pieces (but hold together like crap).

could be profitable...

maybe if you had a deal with your local 'play it again sports' or mom n pop shop.

or put a guarantee on it and sell to gyms...
or hang signs in your gym.  I think I paid like $40 for one of those when I bought one a while back.

small time, zero advertising, local only, it could generate some income.

looks cool, reminds me of my old hometown gym where all the equipment was self-made: flat and incline benches, pulleys, hack squat machine, leg curl/extension, seated and standing calf raise machines, preacher bench, vertical leg press (the best i've ever seen), all dumbells, etc. the only things that were bought were olympic bars and plates.  sweet good old days....

Honestly, that's pretty awesome.  If you don't mind, I may steal your design.

Not in the near future :'( , but seriously Ed Jubinville did quite well for himself producing rugged no frills equipment to the home gym market.

There are probably a few vendors on ebay but you might try doing up some listings and doing deliveries to your local area.  I would say you could build up a small earner from it.

Nobody looking for serious equipment will be going to multi piece gear?
