Title: What would you tell your physician if
Post by: Never1AShow on May 14, 2016, 09:23:41 AM
You wanted him to consider prescribing you HRT test?

Would you tell him you were feeling lethargic, snappy, low libido and moody? Gained some weight for no reason?

Would you just ask him to have your test levels checked with a blood test?

The first thing the doctor will do is check your test levels via blood work, so it doesn't really matter what you tell him.

Do you need to ask them to have it checked?  Would they refuse?

Google is good for finding pictures of JLaws naked butthole but for something that requires some experiential wisdom not as good.  Prefer to trust thunderdome.

Your primary care doc doesn't know fuck-all about HRT and will use any excuse to say no. Find a friendly endo. My PCP looked at my test at 300 and said it was "in-range, so no"

So I went elsewhere.

There are doctors who prescribe and doctors who don't.  With the one's who won't, unless you have a genuine ailment, it's not going to matter what you say.  And if you do have an actual issue he'll probably send you on to an endo.  The appointment is a waste of your time and money.

The one's who will prescribe are more expensive.  You'll find them at anti-aging clinics, holistic health centers, etc.  Boutique private practices.  Ask the big jamokes in the gym who the friendly town quack is.  Imo, if you're going to juice, this is the way to do it.  Made by a pharma-co and legally prescribed.  It's unlikely you'll ever get more than upper HRT levels from a single doctor, however.  He's not going to risk his licence by handing out unjustifiable amounts.

If you honestly want HRT, not bodybuilding doses, I'd look into HCG before testosterone.  Keeps your nuts juicy, and easy subQ shots.  Idk what sides you'd expect from long term use.

HCG isn't gonna do fuck all except plump up your balls.

Where I live there is always an advertisement on the radio for a clinic that treats male low testosterone. Maybe see if there is one in your area.

Regular patients I'd do blood analysis for Test, Thyroid and stuff. If in normal range: a "live healthy" advise....
Brother in arms: well let's say we'll get a bit more creative if possible.....

Yeah, I'm getting blood work done anyway but I don't think I've ever had test level tested and want to make sure they do it so I can see where it is and go from there.

My test came back in the low 300's at age 57. My general doctor sent me to a urologist. I was expecting he would put me on testosterone but he put me on clomid.  My test shot up to 550 and I thought everything was great.  Then that doctor left the practice.

I saw a new doctor who was a really well known endocrinologist. I have people in the medical field in my family who said he's the guy.  After seeing him and blood tests he said clomid is used in men for a very short term fertility drug. He told me it can cause brain cancer. He said there are no long term legit studies for long term use.  He said he would give me testosterone if I wanted but he said just like cholesterol studies they tend to be financed by the statin manufactures who want everyone on cholesterol meds for profit. He said being in the low 300's at my age was normal and it's just a number.

He said you look very muscular and have no sex problems so why do you want it? He said long term use of it changes the viscosity of blood increasing the odds of a vascular event like a stroke or heart attack. He said if it was me I wouldn't take testosterone but if I want it he would give me shots or gel.

And THAT'S why it's always a good idea to give blood every 60 days even if you are on HRT.

This is an excellent post. You see everyone on other boards going on about HRT etc how you must use it. You put something in your body, it's going to cause some reaction. Most of these guys are on HRT because they couldn't handle coming off for months and letting their body actually recover from being on the gear.

I'm 50 and natty.  Even with a good diet and rest, I get tired more easily than I used to.  It's getting more difficult to stay lean and gain/keep muscle, but I refuse to go the HRT route until it's absolutely necessary.

Just get bloods done. My Dr. (hot cougar) gave me TRT recently after little girl test levels.
After my re-test a month later, she said my testes are full again. (I told her "dont mind the woodrow").

But seriously, just get bloods...

I've heard staying up all night before the test is likely to crash your t levels...

Will it ever be "necessary"?  Isn't it all just a quality of life thing?  Don't want to be so tired, moody and prone to put on weight even when eating properly and exercising?
